This is kinda the line up I see for 3DS/Wii U this year (North America schedule)

Q3-Monster Hunter 4, Layton vs Ace Attorney
Q4-Super Smash Bros, 3rd Sonic game

Wii U
Q1-Donkey Kong Country, Luigi's Mansion Dark Moon HD
Q2-Mario Kart 8, Bayonetta 2, Dragon Quest X
Q3-Monster Hunter 4, Yarn Yoshi, Hyrule Warriors

1 and 4 are painfully obvious. Metroid is coming, but I don't know if the game you described in 2 is exactly what it'll be. 3 is coming and anyone who thinks otherwise is dumb, but whether it'll come this year, I can't say. Seems plausible and I wouldn't be surprised in the slightest, but I'd be pretty happy, so long as it is indeed not Galaxy 3 because that'd be fucking stupid. I'd add Miyamoto's new IP, because though it hasn't been formally announced Miyamoto has mentioned it. Knowing Miyamoto and his focus on new experiences, it'll be for the Wii U and utilize asymmetric gameplay to provide us something only the Wii U can. There isn't much left for the 3DS to offer us gameplay wise that hasn't been done before.

That's the point of this entire thread. To point out games that are so obviously coming out this year in particular, yet since there hasn't been an official "yeah, this game is coming out this year" statement from Nintendo, they are left out of every discussion that pertains to games of 2014.

I didn't mention Miyamoto's IP because there's no concrete reason to believe that it's coming this year, specifically. That's not me saying that it isn't likely. That's me saying that there's no compelling reason for or against that.

I really want to emphasize how extremely likely I think a 2D Metroid release for the 3DS in 2014 is. They've been pushing off making a 2D metroid for what? Almost a decade? They were probably so anxious to do it. So many ideas posponed. So little to look forward to in 2014 so far when it comes to 1st party on the 3DS. Such a missing whole in the Metroid franchise for the 3DS. This game is going to be this year's equivilant to A Link Between Worlds in the way it tries to push the idea that the 3DS is the modern day NES. I don't know if it will be called Metroid Dread and if it will be a pick u of that old project, but it definitely will be a 2D Metroid, and it will definitely come out this year. I think that Metroid Dread/Majora's Mask 3D will be this year's "A Link Between Worlds/Pokemon X/Y" 1st party blockbusters. Metroid in October and Majora's Mask in late November.

I dont think Majora's Mask 3D is coming this, I guessing 2015

Hmm... Yeah I really doubt Majora's Mask would come out this year, though it seems like it would be very plausible that it would come out next year. I think zorg1000 is right on with his schedule.

I agree with you on the number 2 and 4, however, I'm not so sure about number 3 (1 has a 50/50 chance IMHO).  But I do believe we're going to see a new F-Zero game for 3DS from either Shin'en or Next Level Games (they might have hinted at it with "they keep giving us better and better IP").  I also think we might see Miyamoto's new IP, but it won't be with Retro, it'll be developed in-house.  I believe that Retro has been keeping themselves busy with one of two things: A) a new entry into the Metroid Prime/First-Person Metroid games (but it won't be nearly as dark as Prime or Echoes); or B) a possible reboot/new installment in the Star Fox series.

Sorry, I wasn't trying to imply that 1 and 4 didn't need to be said, they certainly belong in this thread, I was just separating them because I agree so much I didn't see the need to discuss them. 2 and 3 I certainly agree with your logic, I just have more doubt there than the other two, but would definitely put them in a thread like this. Actually, I just saw something about Metroid Dread's story being finished, so it would make a lot of sense.

And I think the Miyamoto IP is likely this year, hence why I mentioned it. But perhaps I should provide better reasoning.

The quote here implies that Miyamoto expects to have it announced by spring, around Mario Kart.

“We’ll have Mario Kart 8 out next spring, and at that point we’ll have the whole lineup in place, so I think it’s about time we brought out a new franchise."

This article was from July of 2013, and Miyamoto was reportedly hard at work on the new franchise at that point. Nintendo is supposedly sponsering Nico Nico Chokaigi, so they'll probably announce something big there, and I'm thinking it'll be Miyamoto's new IP. I'm not sure what else would be significant enough to announce. Metroid and Zelda are bigger in the west, and Mario will almost certainly be at E3. The 3rd Sega exclusive wouldn't be significant enough, I don't think. Nintendo wouldn't want any other companies distracting from a reveal of a new Miyamoto IP, so competing with Microsoft and Sony at E3 might be something they want to leave to Mario and Zelda, and let their new baby be the star of the show at the con.

The most anticipated game next to Half Life 3 which is................Mario's Epic Yarn.
