Forums - Gaming - PS4's 'Better Terms' Make Xbox One Less Attractive

So this is still a win-win situation for Playstation and a gamble for MS.

This means that PS is getting all the indies while MS will miss out on some of them because developers will only develop first for Xbox if they plan on releasing the games on PS4 as well while some developers will be put off by this practice.

if MS can bully indies into launching on xbox first i would say that is a win/loose for xbox/playstation.     yeah, i'll still get them eventually but the delay time with indies can be greater than a year in a lot of cases.   that's not a win for playstation or for me.

If they plan on releasing multiplat anyway they could work parallelly on both consoles. Also I think porting from X1 to PS4 is much less work than it was last gen especially for smaller indie games which don't have to be as optimized as more hardware taxing bigger titles.

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

idk to those that say they dont care about indies, so far the games ive liked the most in this gen have been indie games, RESOGUN, Contrast, Dont Starve, and soon in feb, Outlast(played some on pc and its great) oh you know the best part of all 4 of those games.....THEY DONT COST ME A PENNY. The are free to PS+ members which if you want to play any games online on the ps4 you need anyhow. Resogun is the best out of the bunch Contrast was a good 4 hour distraction fun to play, may go back to get all the trophies.

As I thought.

Carry on with the thread.

What? You are saying there are a price for devkits... there are but no indie dev pays it for both Sony or MS... or Nintendo if you want to know.

It's obviously an outdated article. After all, the guy's been dead for some time now.

I played all the indie games I wanted to last gen thanks...

I'd say about a dozen were good, a handful were brilliant.... thats in 8 years from both PS3 and 360.

The vast majority are fairly shit.

Well I can say I have 50/50 fun with boths... and I liked Resogun and Don't Starve on PS4 (both 8.5/10 for me)... played Costract that is a good 7/10 game.

What's wrong with that condition? Wasn't MS giving indies a free dev kit or something like that to develop X1 games?

SOURCE?

I'm a developer and never paid for any tools to work... tools that cost over $10k per licence... that's how the indutry works... you don't need to pay to have a Visual Studio licence... MS lent it to you... after the time they share a new lent key.

Most indies devs that have a good Project never paid for devkits... same for big developers... they received a lot of devkits... they only pays if they need/wants more.

You're a dev?

Well last gen PSN had better terms then XBLA....yet XBLA was the premiere place for indie games and developers. Quite simply, Xbox gamers just bought more and made them more money.

This gen, PS4's install base will provide that audience to buy those games. Gamerbase > terms.

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

ahh someone who understands the whole concept that install base trumps everything else
