Forums - Gaming - PS4's 'Better Terms' Make Xbox One Less Attractive

we've had this exact same scenario posted about a dozen times now...

I'm pretty sick of hearing about indies tbh.

I'm sure it will die down when both systems have a decent library of retail games though.... thank god.

Well, it may be frustrating because as a group they mostly turned their collective backs on MS after MS decided to change their policies around the xbl live arcade...

But on the PS side they're well appreciated, maybe not all of their games, but there were some oretty good ones over the years (I could say the same about AAA titles).

Well last gen PSN had better terms then XBLA....yet XBLA was the premiere place for indie games and developers. Quite simply, Xbox gamers just bought more and made them more money.

This gen, PS4's install base will provide that audience to buy those games. Gamerbase > terms.

as i understand it,. ps3's cell architecture made development really hard on indies.  these are small teams that lack the resources (and often time skill) to learn exotic architectures.   360 got indies not because of userbase but because it was the first console that was close enought to being a PC that indies could develope on PC and port to a console without needing special skills and massive code rewrites/optimizations.

ps4 and xbone are both PC enough that indies should thrive on both.

I think MS policy might be unpopular, but it is the only thing ensuring that whatever "indie" support they do get isn't seriously lagging behind other platforms.

It isn't like MS actively chases down the "indie" or go out and discover and promote the upcoming "indie" games. That is something that happens mostly on PC and Sony has started doing that a lot by signing indie exclusives like from ThatGameCompany and getting games like Flow, Flower, and Journey.

Nintendo has policies on this that are more like Sony, but have the flaw of sitting on their ass rather than chasing down and appealing to indies to release their games on the Nintendo platform. They are still too arrogant to think it is more up to the other developers to want to develop on Nintendo platform than Nintendo responsibility to make it an appealing intiative.
