Forums - Nintendo - About X for Wii U, I was just thinking.

From what we've seen of X, graphically it looks amazing.  Better than most PS3 and 360 titles, but it's only in pre development.  It's fairly common in the gaming business that first, second, and third party developers show off a game that really pushes the console, and then when it's finally released, it's nowhere near as good looking as we were shown.

Forza 5 still looks good, but no where near as good as when it was first shown, Aliens Colonial Marines, Killzone 2, many different Ubisoft games, White Knight Chronicles, etc.

X may look like its prerelease videos, it might also not even be close to looking that good.

While it's clear the gameplay would have never played like this, here is a video of White Knight Chronicles and how good it looked.  The final version is a great looking game, but in comparison to the original "gameplay" we saw.  Not even close.

A lot of games are built around what the hardware can probably do and then if there are framerate issues and what not, they need to scale it down a bit.  Just saying maybe Nintendo fans should tone down the hype, because the drop might be too much for you guys to bear.  Don't want any suicides going on.  Nintendo needs your support.

I'm kidding about the suicide thing, but serious about everything else.

Going by recent reports and threads I dont think nintendo will make it to the release of X.

I'd only worry if the developer has a track record of doing this.

Edit: Also considering how much they were able to squeeze out of the Wii for Xenoblade I'm not worried at all.

Yea but Monolith... I doubt they will under deliver even on the visual aspect... I do understand what your saying but Monolith has never disappointed yet and Neither has Nintendo in terms of what the pre-release looks like and the what the actual game looks like... I mean, in most cases, the actual game looks better than what the pre-release is with Nintendo and their first party games

That actually made me laugh out loud!!

How many examples are there of Nintendo games ending up looking noticably worse than the previews?

I know I'm in the minority here, but I honestly dont think X looks all that great visually to begin with. Maybe it's just the artstyle, idk. A graphical downgrade wouldn't really bother me as long as the gameplay is as fun as it looks.

How many examples are there of Nintendo games that ended up pushing the hardware to its limits even remotely?

Also, hasn't there been a Zelda game that looked no where near as good as its prerelease visuals?

Whether Monolith will push the hardware or not isn't relevant though, is it? They just have to make sure that the end product isn't inferior to what they've shown so far.

Unless you're talking about Wind Waker looking different compared to the early Gamecube tech demo, I'm not sure which Zelda game you're thinking off.
