Is hoping your video game of choice any different from cheering on a sports team on TV every weekend? Being a fanboy makes more sense than being a fan of a team because you spend time playing the console of your choice and learning to love it. With sports you are just blindly liking a team for no reason. It has no basis. I don't get how people can say fanboys are delusional while people who are a fan of sports or politics aren't. it's essentially the same thing! Discuss!

Consoles wars are fun... Its when people go the extra mile is where it gets stupid... I even went there sometimes

Consoles war becomes not so clever when people take sides of systems that clearly don't bring them any advantages. Whichever system that may be.

It is funny because as you say, '' you spend time playing the console of your choice and learning to love it. With sports you are just blindly liking a team for no reason''. You are blind right now. While you spend your time on the internet ( wow such a spetacular place ) trying to defend for death your console, ( I presume that is ps4?), your company is earning millions while you are earning nothing and are '' blindly'' thinking that you are doing something great.

What if all the fanboy wars are stupid?

By that same token so are the Sports franchises and players you root for. That rationale could be applied to just about anything someone is a "fan" of.

While I certainly think the console wars can get very stupid at times I find it entertaining. I also find nothing wrong with folks having a preference or even no preference at all and the gumption to say so.

I'm not a fan of sports, though. Not to the point where I attack other franchises. Now if this were about comic books, you'd have a point. DC Comics for life!

The good thing with the consoles war is that each fanboy side states the advantages of one system or the other. A clever consumer would analyze both sides bragging and pick the most suitable.

I don't think many have something against someone preferring one or another console so that it should be also no problem to prefer one team above the other. But if you think that another sports team is so horrible just because they are the main competitor of your favourite team it sounds not very logical.

A good example for me are the clubs Schalke 04 and Borussia Dortmund in Germany. Their fans hate each other more than anyone else even if they are probably much closer to each other as persons since they have pretty much the same history and come from the same area.

Those guys meet each other in a club or so and start to like each other until one guy says "I'm Schalke/Dortmund fan" and the friendship is over lol.
