I agree with you on most points, but would argue over a few things

Microsoft did provide a varied line up on interesting exclusives, but the problem was that only lasted for the first few years. Their main non-shooter exclusive is Fable which in my opinion has declined in quality greatly and they've been buying fewer third party exclusives towards the end of the generation. Where we once got games like Blue Dragon, Lost Odyssey and Infinite Undiscovery, they gave up on buying them after a few years

I would say Sony are generally quite good with not milking IPs. God of War Ascension was probably one too far, but if you look at their franchises, how many have got beyond 3 main series games? (ie console not handheld). I can think of Uncharted, God of War, Killzone and Gran Turismo. They can keep making GT games forever because it's a racer, God of War was probably one too many and I don't really want Uncharted 4, but I do trust Naughty Dog. Killzone is okay frankly because Shadow Fall is really quite good and they needed something to get out at launch. Guerilla Games is reportedly working on a new IP soon. I suppose Ratchet was over-used, but part of that problem might have been the relationship with Insomniac deteriorating. inFamous is getting to game 3, so it will be interesting to see what happens afterwards

As for the controller, none of the gimmicks really hurt other than the battery life. But personally I would take the slightly shorter integrated battery over having to deal with AA batteries, but maybe that's just a preference

In general, Sony are pretty good at allowing "creative freedom" while maintaining productivity. If you read about Naughty Dog, they seem to be arranged partially like Value, with a lack of hierarchy, but they reguarly release high quality games. The one studio that they have had issues with is Japan studios. It's not just the Last Guardian, but Studio Japan's projects frequently don't seem up to scratch (see Knack) and I think Sony know this and are trying to fix it... Let's hope they do

1. About microsoft. Yeah. During 2005-2008 they seemed unstoppable. Blue dragon, Lost Odyssey and mass effect were dominating xbox 360. But they seem to have lost momentum since kinect.

2. I played all 7 god of war games (including god of war betryal). So its too much for me. As for dualshock 3 I hate it for useless motion control. I might be a purist or old fashined but I like my controller without any gimmicks. Plus Dualshocks 4's lighthbar is useless (I know its for camera. But without camera its useless). My Dualshock 3 becomes useless after the internal battery dies.

Sony:

3. Franchises just don't seem to have "heart".

The franchises on PS are the only ones besides some of Nintendo's that speak to my heart.. That's the reason why I play them and couldn't live in a world without PlayStation. LittleBigPlanet, Journey, Flower, Last of Us, Shadow of Colossus, Ico, Heavy Rain, Uncharted.. No? Not a single? )-;

Heavy Rain did and Beyond Two Souls did.  Flower, too.  I'm still playing through the Last of Us.  I think I was in some library last time I played.  Got seperated and when I came out of wherever, Ellie and....other lady were being attacked by monsters.  I quit right after that.  I played every one of the games mentioned and they just don't really do it for me.  It's something I can't put into words.  It's like they fill the criteria for a good game--responsive controls, good graphics, high production values etc.  but something's missing.

I mean look at a game like Valkyria Chronicles or Metal Gear Solid or even Gears of War--something about those games.  They have music that gets a reaction out of me, a sense of hoplessness that I relate to, characters that seem like friends.  Mario games make me feel at one with the controls.  Halo games make me feel like everything relies on me.  When I play something like Uncharted, it just feels manufactured and "Hollywood".  Even when Sully got kidnapped in Uncharted 3, I was like "meh."  I was hoping he'd die.  Then maybe I'd have felt something. Instead, it was just "Look at the pretty.  Okay. On to the next area."  LBP hooked me with its intro but then the game just felt like a bunch of Lego Blocks in different configurations.  Maybe I'm missing something.

Just a personal opinion, though.  I'm sure others will disagree.

Hate is a strong word. Disliking certain aspects about them would be more accurate.
Microsoft:
Shooters, shooters, car sims, shooters, shooters, action/adventures, and more shooters!!!
Xbox Live
Sony:
PS4 requires subscription to pay for the online experience!? Just like Xbox Live!!? Oh, but with free games...
PSVita it only lacks everything!
Nintendo:
Dormant IPs (F-Zero, StarFox, etc)
NNID can use a lot of work.
Wii U can use improvements (better MiiVerse, newer interface, better eShop, and new Virtual Console support)

1. Yeah, Lost Odyssey and Mass Effect were 2 of the big games that got me to buy my 360, shame they didn't keep it up

2. So I definitely don't count phone games and didn't really count PSP games. I mean, I would be far more interested in a Vita God of War than a console God of War. But I had played all of them and didn't buy Ascension, III felt like the perfect ending.

I'm not saying the gimicks are useful (trying to play Flower with the sixaxis is painful) but they aren't harmful. I have never had a problem with the batteries. For me, the rest of the controller began to tire before the batteries. I did admittedly have 4 different primary PS3 controllers since launch, but they all still work fine, they're just a little tired

I'm with that LegendaryWolf guy above me. I don't actually hate anything about any company. I really find all of them necessary parts of my gaming life. If I could marry all three, I would. Each one fulfills a specific need. I just listed a few things I have minor issues with. Nothing major.

Yeah. Flower was really painful to play. Especially when you went to other creatures that seemed to get you life because of the mistake of six axis. I also remember in heavy rain six axix was a pain. And uncharted 1.

I have around 5/6 controllers (including nyko raven which was awesome). Now I am looking for Power A Fusion Tournament Controller for PS3.

ANyway, enough nit-picking on other people's lists. Here's mine:

Nintendo:

1. Refuse to add voice acting to their biggest titles (ie: Mario, Zelda)

2. Won't add universally accepted features to their consoles. I'd like to watch movies from my HDD on my Wii U, earn Achievements, save photos, etc. Hell, I had to buy my own HDD because they thought 32GB was acceptable

3. Seem to have forgotten how to market their product. So much potential wasted

Microsoft:

1. Plays it too safe. I'd like to see them take risks with games like Heavy Rain. Every game doesn't have to be a multi-million seller from a hit franchise. People may love hamburgers but they get tired of eating them every day. Try something different.

2. Need to stop commenting on the competition. Let your software and hardware sell on its own merits.

3. Failed to give Xbox 360 owners a real reason to move on to the Xbox One. Aside from XBL Gold allowing me to play on both consoles, there really isn't much to earn my loyalty.

Sony:

1. Seems to keep winning because everybody else keeps fucking up!

2. They toned it down but they still seem kinda arrogant.

3. Franchises just don't seem to have "heart". Hard to explain but Sony's franchises just don't endear themselves to me. I play and beat them but I usually feel empty afterwards. They don't feel timeless or have personality like some Nintendo/Microsoft offerings.

+1

OP Nintendo are doing you a favour by not lowering the price of their games.

They want you to reach your full potential so you earn more money to buy their games.

OR if you still reading past the two lines above buy the games second hand at JB HIFI oe at worst eBay.

totally agree about the voice acting. If they are against it so much why dont they give users the option? enable disable voice acting via the options menu.

I quite liked the fact that Heavy Rain was something of a pain to play... it seemed appropriate even though probably not intentional. I actually thought Uncharted 1's grenade aiming worked surprisingly well, it was the log balancing that got to me, but you should be grateful that was all given all the nonsense in Uncharted Golden Abyss

Well I have 7! I've never bought a 3rd party controller, my brother did have a 3rd party wireless PS2 controller, but I've always felt that my hands were shaped to hold DualShock controllers so haven't looked elsewhere
