Microsoft did provide a varied line up on interesting exclusives, but the problem was that only lasted for the first few years. Their main non-shooter exclusive is Fable which in my opinion has declined in quality greatly and they've been buying fewer third party exclusives towards the end of the generation. I would say Sony are generally quite good with not milking IPs. God of War Ascension was probably one too far, but if you look at their franchises, how many have got beyond 3 main series games? (ie console not handheld). I can think of Uncharted, God of War, Killzone and Gran Turismo. They can keep making GT games forever because it's a racer, God of War was probably one too many and I don't really want Uncharted 4, but I do trust Naughty Dog. Killzone is okay frankly because Shadow Fall is really quite good and they needed something to get out at launch. Guerilla Games is reportedly working on a new IP soon. I suppose Ratchet was over-used, but part of that problem might have been the relationship with Insomniac deteriorating. inFamous is getting to game 3, so it will be interesting to see what happens afterwards

As for the controller, none of the gimmicks really hurt other than the battery life. But personally I would take the slightly shorter integrated battery over having to deal with AA batteries, but maybe that's just a preference

In general, Sony are pretty good at allowing "creative freedom" while maintaining productivity. If you read about Naughty Dog, they seem to be arranged partially like Value, with a lack of hierarchy, but they reguarly release high quality games. The one studio that they have had issues with is Japan studios. It's not just the Last Guardian, but Studio Japan's projects frequently don't seem up to scratch (see Knack) and I think Sony know this and are trying to fix it... Let's hope they do

1. About microsoft. Yeah. During 2005-2008 they seemed unstoppable. Blue dragon, Lost Odyssey and mass effect were dominating xbox 360. But they seem to have lost momentum since kinect.

2. I played all 7 god of war games (including god of war betryal). So its too much for me. As for dualshock 3 I hate it for useless motion control. I might be a purist or old fashined but I like my controller without any gimmicks. Plus Dualshocks 4's lighthbar is useless (I know its for camera. But without camera its useless). My Dualshock 3 becomes useless after the internal battery dies.

1. Yeah, Lost Odyssey and Mass Effect were 2 of the big games that got me to buy my 360, shame they didn't keep it up

2. So I definitely don't count phone games and didn't really count PSP games. I mean, I would be far more interested in a Vita God of War than a console God of War. But I had played all of them and didn't buy Ascension, III felt like the perfect ending.

I'm not saying the gimicks are useful (trying to play Flower with the sixaxis is painful) but they aren't harmful. I have never had a problem with the batteries. For me, the rest of the controller began to tire before the batteries. I did admittedly have 4 different primary PS3 controllers since launch, but they all still work fine, they're just a little tired

Yeah. Flower was really painful to play. Especially when you went to other creatures that seemed to get you life because of the mistake of six axis. I also remember in heavy rain six axix was a pain. And uncharted 1.

I have around 5/6 controllers (including nyko raven which was awesome). Now I am looking for Power A Fusion Tournament Controller for PS3.
