It all comes down to marketing, one of the reasons yearly releases sell so well is because of brand power, and the other main reason is because of marketing. Is as simple as that.

Not happening.

PS4 will win, this debate and all others are pointless. WiiU will be a distant third, sooner people accept that the better.

Ahh yeah the classic "casual" vs "hardcore" debate. A term created by the gaming media to justified themselves as different individuals from the ones who play Wii sports or Candy Crush (because they felt ashamed I guess).

A "casual gamer" mother who plays 10 hours of Candy Crush a day is no different than a 25 years "hardcore gamer" who plays 10 hours of CoD a day.

There's a big difference actually : the Candy Crush mom doesn't need consoles (hence WIiU's problem). And in average, casual gamers play less than hardcore gamers, so they invest less in gaming.

the situation isnt even remotely similar to the GC days. stop comparing two different eras.

what i dont get is how he can say you cant compare the two because they are different and somehow concludes its beneficial for a system doing worse numbers. Even if it were true that you cant compare the two it doesnt logically follow that it means the Wii U will have an increase.

But it isnt true that you cant compare the two. A year is plenty of time to analyze where the system will most likely end up. Even Ps3's sloppy start pretty much pointed to where it would be at now. Sure, things are not constant and there are shifts and increases but nothing as drastic as people make it out to be and with the increases come drop offs shortly after

. I have no doubt this year will be better than last (it couldnt really get worse) but i dont think Nintendo will match GCs 14mil and next year could easily see a YoY decrease
