Of coarse, I know 1080p TVs are still being sold in stores, but base on what I seen from this year CES and even last year, is that companies already moved on. Seriously, 4K off the wazoo. Computers, Tablets, Phones, Laptops, and duh TVs. Companies plan to launch there 4K products, pretty soon then expected, starting sometimes next month, base on what I heard. So if anyone in need for a decent, cheap 1080p TV, I say wait til the summer and see what the price look like, you may come across a good 1080p TV for around 900 or 800 bucks. That's how I got my TV.

Now I wonder what will be the first theatical film to be record in full 4k and who's excited for 4K?

Vizio are selling 2014 50" 4K TVs for $999 dollars, that's a 100 dollars more then my current TV, and I just bought not too long ago. Suddenly 4K TVs, doesn't look too bad right now :o

Its all about price points. Though, I'm not sure if people with FullHD TVs are willing to upgrade just yet. On the PC end it makes perfect sense for content creators. However, it may be too expensive from a gaming standpoint. The Kind of GPU grunt needed for 4K is just way too costly for the average PC gamer right now.

I predict that the Wii U will sell a total of 18 million units in its lifetime.

The NX will be a 900p machine

4k phones are a stupid idea... 1080p is already good enough, going for even higher res will just make the cpu work harder on phones for no real gain which will lead to less battery life

4k TVs on the other hand is a great idea, 1080p looks great until you get to 27 inch+ imo. (Obviously it also depends on how close/far you sit from the TV) but with 4k, the TVs really do look crisp as fuck... I am recommending majority of the people that ask me if they should get a TV or not to wait for 4k which should be affordable this year cause thats the "way of the future" and if you buy a 4k, your resolution won't be outdated for at least 5-7 years

Laptops, Once again, 4k is a stupid idea cause 1080p is good enough on 15-17' laptops and companies need to focus on making them light and lasting longer on battery than making them 4k

Desktops, Depends on what your doing, if you have a 24 inch monitor and its mostly for gaming/movies/youtube, 1080p is fine. Photo editing, workstation and video editing, maybe a 4k would be nice

PC Specs: CPU: 7800X3D || GPU: Strix 4090 || RAM: 32GB DDR5 6000 || Main SSD: WD 2TB SN850

I don't see myself owning a t.v. in 4 years honestly so no.

4k phones are dumb.

Monitors: yes absolutely.

For TV ,monitors and some tablets 4k is awesome.
I would agree tho that 4k for laptops and phones is not necessary.

How I see it, since a lot of companies are releasing 4K products around the same time period, their going to want to price their product competitively to catch the consumer attention.

I don't need a 4K TV for a few years, partially because of the price and partially because I just don't need 1...

As for monitors, mine are only a year old and I would need a significant GPU upgrade, so maybe in 2 years?

Ultimately, what am I actually going to be watching in 4k? Selected shows on Netflix and some PC games. So I don't think there is any reason to buy now

As for phones, 1080p is more than plenty. Others have said this too, but trying to push ridiculous resolutions is going to kill the battery

See Sony. Their most affordable 4k product will be a video camera. How backwards is that ?

Well seeing how a lot of organizations (TV stuff/gaming ) still haven't fully embraced 1080p yet, I wouldn't say that.

You can't just price model to catch consumer attention.

If all TV companies tried to undercut each other, you would have companies that are doing awful (See Sony) going out of business. Competiting on price alone will be the downfall of most organizations. You need to compete on value.

It is still early in the product life cycle, the cost of production is high, so the product will be high.
