Its not gonna be an MMORPG. Developing one of those takes alot longer.

My fear is that it become a hunting game.

What is likely is that it will be single player with multiplayer mode.

The multiplayer might be of the "hunting" variety but in the single player, the monsters are just big and cool, that's all.

That would be fine with me. Actually, in single player you probably will have AI controlled party members.

After seeing the performance of Dragon Quest X I think Nintendo won't allow Monolith to follow that path.

Also, I hope there's some great online infrastructure with chatrooms. Otherwisre its gonna be a mess to arrange a game between friends without having to resort to skype and such.

Wasn't Square Enixes MMO's bringing in cash in large amounts though? I recall hearing that the FF MMO earned them more than regular FF games.

Looks to me like Xenoblade, but maybe with hints of MH in it (because of the possibillity to remove body parts). I doubt it will become a hunting game though, the core battle system looks to similar to that of Xenoblades.

LOL. My fear has only grown after the last trailer. My most anticipated game will be a mmo.

It isn't going to be a MMORPG.

It may have multiplayer (online or otherwise), which if properly implemented isn't a bad thing (shout out to Monster Hunter, The Last Story, Dragon Quest IX and that underrated classic Secret of Mana) but that doesn't make it a MMORPG. Especially given how notoriously cheap Nintendo gets.
