dead rising 3 and forza use it

They dont use the cloud like titanfall will. Forza does use it to make some sort of AI i believe. It seems like titanfall will use the cloud alot more than just AI.

Is toast for real or he just do it for fun and giggles? I'm really asking

the giggles.  dear god it had better be the giggles.

Paging wright.

Because cloud compute does not help with graphics, it does not free GPU ressources to render better images and will not be much good for anything interactive (unless it's very static... thus not very interactive).

Things you could pre-compute may as well be defered locally (you can renter certain parts of the image only once every 2 or 3 frames locally...) it will probably be better and much more reliable.

But more importantly, MS azure is built on x86 CPUs, not GPUs, that's not a very good use of ressources (think energy cost) to render high definition, high details graphics on those compared to a decent GPU.

Now things that are indirectly related to graphics like physics, they would be even worse, imagine having a million objects falling around a scene because of some explosion, now try to send coordinates for all of these all over your internet connection with the colision data etc. for every frames... that's even worse than rendering the whole game remotely (like gaikai does by example) because there is just way more data to move around... if there are not that many objects, well the simulation can run locally... same goes for dynamic shadows, in a decent resolution...

Could compute is great for things you can render asynchronously, then send over the often huge datasets associated with the results, for the uses people think of when they mention using it in games they forget that often generating the information on the local machine is often faster than generating it remotely then sending it back to the user... that all may change as internet connections become faster, but so will consoles...

The two simply aren't comparable. Two different uses of server side technology.

PS Now = Netflix of video games.

MS Cloud = Supposedly an extra processor in da clowd.

Latency and bandwidth hurt both but more so what MS is attempting to convince us they can do.

Actually latency hurts Sony more than cloud compute.  Cloud compute can be used for background task that do not require constant update like the graphics pipeline.  By taking over those task, this can free up resources to push out better graphics.  People only think about graphics when it comes to a game but there are many things a game engine does and a few of those processes can be offloaded.

Also there have been development on doing raytracing server side.  There is a project intel did with wofenstein where they use cloud compute to ray trace the games graphics and stream it to a PC.  This is the type of cloud compute that MS is stating they will be able to accomplish.  Here is a link to the article and the youtube video.  There are a few advance graphical techniques that can be done server side using cloud compute to deliver graphics that cannot be done on current consoles today.  This might be something in the future once someone put the effort to make a game using cloud compute.

Killzone uses raytracing for its realtime reflections:

and it runs at a decent framerate too!

If PS4 can stream games like The Last of Us imagine what Xbox Live cloud can do! Imagine playing a game that maxes out the Xbox One while added graphics like The Last of Us on top of that. Assuming the PS4 doesn't use cloud to boost game performance and pixels, surly the Xbox One can do better graphics than the PS4. This isn't even a question. As long as you have a good internet connection this should be easily possible. Microsoft's secret sauce is starting to taste good homies.

Thats the issue, most of the people have shitty Internet connection... And on top of that, ISPs trottle up the ass, specially things that take a lot of bandwidth such as Netflix and probably Playstation Now and this thing in the future... I am not saying its not gonna be good but in order for it to work effectively, NA needs to stop sucking with its ISPs and upgrade dat infrastructure from the 1980s... Like fuck, Toyko has internet where you have to pay only $50/$60/month for 2Gbps, Canada has internet where $80/month will get you 25Mbps

Comparing all of NA to Tokyo isn't fair. I doubt all of canada has internet speeds like that. Tokyo is a huge city. I live 15 miles outside of Boston and I get 75Mbps. I could pay a little more for 200, but I don't need that. Your complaint is that not EVERYWHERE gets those speeds. That's not a NA issue, it's a regional issue, in particular, regions where it's not profitable to run newer, more expensive fiber optics. It's not free. If you live in backwoods Kentucky, your internet isn't going to be good. You may not realize this, but we live in a system called capitalism. If there was profit in giving faster internet in all areas, it would be done. ISPs aren't running charities. Japan is a tiny little country. The US has 2.5x the population of Japan, but spread over 27x the territory. You think infrastructure is free?

If I understand correctly PS3 title has a better graphics then PS4?

Xbox one owners dream about PS3 graphics?

That game doesn't even look that much better than a current gen game, if Titanfall is supposed to show the capabilities of the Cloud to make X1 games look better, then that's real sad.

Not going to go into too much detail and I'm sure others will explain it but basically you need to educate yourself about how the cloud works and its limitations.

The cloud is great for streaming and for background tasks. When it comes to rendering and boosting performance in real time, not so much.

Microsoft's power of the cloud is stating that they'll enhance the game itself, not stream the whole game to you. Streaming video content is one thing, streaming uncompressed textures and other stuff is not going to be possible on the cloud.

If streaming video is the power of the cloud then OnLive is better than Xbox One.

Watch Nvidia's video.

I don't think you understand the nvidia video the way you should, it does enhance graphics, but it's also running on a LAN and updating the information every few frames (they show many examples).

Baiscally, it's a counter argument to that kind of service (and it shows stuff that seems to be doable locally at the moment...).
