And you complain about MS spinning numbers. What a load of baloney.

He has 65million pc owners who access his free service, I dont think MS give a toss frankly.  Lets see how bullish he is 12 months from now.

his concern isnt about making a valid comparison, he was asked to comment and he commented on the status que, which is true. in the upcoming years Microsofts revenue and profits will depend on the xbox one, which sits on 3 million. steam sits at 65 million signed up users and expanding. he does not care about the comparison being "valid" in your eyes, he is simply stating facts.

Gabe's comparison was fucking dumb, so stop defending him.

i cant see how its fucking dumb when he is simply stating fucking facts. with a new gen, microsoft has to start over in building their user base, steam/valve do not, seems like a fucking legit reasoning right fucking their.

How many Steam Machines have Valve sold?

ROFL. I hope Steam box bankrupts them. Their titles are overated and they are an extremely slow developer.

65 mill Steam accounts?

How about 80 mill 360's you absolute douche. And the fact that PC Steam runs pretty well on Windows.

Gabe Newell Trying to punch way above his weight. ROFL.

Ha ha ha.

So does it count that Microsoft have Xbox Live available to every type of Windows 8 and WP8?

48 million is only Paying Gold Live members on Xbox 360 and One. If you include all of Xbox Live the real figure with phones and Windows 8 is probably well over 100 million. Titanfall is Xbox Live only on PC to. MS will do that to many more PC games soon.

TitanFall is on Origin https://www.origin.com/en-ie/store/buy/titanfall-ANW.html

and thats his point, he basically says they are at 3 million and they have catching up to do, meaning they have to see how those 48 million transition from xbox 360 to xbox one. He however, doesnt have to worry about such a transition, as he already has 65 on a platform (PC) which has no generations, unlike consoles. SteamBox will only help expand the userbase. you also have to remember he was ASKED the question, and he didnt just state this by himself.

Some times a game on PC dosen´t have suport for a later OS, API or drive.

PC games are not everlasting.

Alas I have a Steam account and for 6 months I have kept a promisse to not buy any game I wouldn´t have time to play immediately. Still have 5 games to go and, unfortunally, Games with Gold...

Pretty sure that includes Silver accounts.

No it doesnt. I dont know how many times Microsoft have to say Gold members. Microsoft have always announced Live active Gold Members at every E3. Its paying users. Otherwise it would be around 100 million? Windows Phone users have Xbox Live silver and so does Windows 8 RT and normal.

EDIT: And now every Xbox One sold will have at least 1 Silver account. So your saying since last E3 MS made only 3 mill users? 3 mill sold Xbox One. So not one single new user on 360/WP8 or Windows 8 PC?

Give me a source of them saying that they are active gold members.

I'm surprised there are so few steam accounts actually... he does realize 65 million accounts is peanuts comparing to the consoles install base? I'm pretty sure the Xbox one and PS4 will have over 65million users before the end of their lifetime.

It's a silly comparison because not all of those 65m are going to bother with the Steam Machines. In fact, very few of them will. They already own PCs, why in the world would they dump $500 on a console?

Sigs are dumb. And so are you!

Steam is doomed... Wouldn't even enter top 10 platforms of all time

This. What is the incentive in buying a steambox? Lifetime sales will be very low imo

Your going way off here:

An audience member asked Newell what he thought of the milestone, and if the company’s Steam Machines line-up could reach the same figures.

He replied, “Well, it’d take a while for them to catch up. I mean, we’re at 65 million,”
