Former 360 owner. I switched to PS3/4 because of cheaper price, no kinect, and too many stupid shooters and co-op games.

My parents had a good liking for Sony as a brand, so the first console that I got was the Playstation, and from that generation it was the only console I owned... I ended up enjoying that console for a couple years, then got the PS2 as a Christmas gift in 2002. I got a taste of other consoles this generation too with the Gamecube (I got the Metroid Prime bundle :D), and the Xbox in 2005. To be honest opening one of my gifts I saw the green casing and thought I got an Xbox 360... in retrospect I'm glad it wasn't a 360, because of all the release issues. I loved my PS2, liked my gamecube... and was indifferent to the Xbox.

I'd say the first switch happened in Christmas 2006, when I recieved an Xbox 360. I remember putting the 360 on my wishlist over the PS3, because Elder Scrolls was already out for the 360. Plus I was more interested in online gaming at the time and thought that Xbox was the natural route to go. Most of my friends were also getting 360s... Being completely honest, the original Xbox was my least favorite console that I've ever owned, but the 360 is my favorite. I believe the 360 gave the best console experience last generation due to it's superior online service. I got a PS3 eventually, since there's tons of great exclusives on it.

For the 8th generation I bought a Wii U (The NSMBU bundle)  as a birthday gift to myself in early November, because it had enough games that I wanted to play, along with promising titles in the future. I also skipped the Wii, so the backwards compatibility was a huge selling point for me, since I can experience all the great Wii games on the U. I don't know if I would consider this a switch though.

My positive experience with the Xbox 360 had made the next Xbox my initial choice for the next generation, but a lot has changed. If given the choice right now I'd choose the PS4 over Xbox One. 

In terms of handhelds I had a Gameboy Color and the first version of the Gameboy advance. I enjoyed the Zelda titles on it, and got to experience some of the classic NES and SNES games on it. (A Link to the Past and Super Mario World were highlights for me). I remember my parents buying my sister a computer, so to keep things equal my parents let me get a PSP. I'll be honest the PSP soured handheld gaming for a while for me. I did enjoy the GTA titles on it, but I couldn't find much else to enjoy, so it collected dust.. I picked up a 3DS XL last year due to all the great games it had. 

ps3 was too expensive at the time so I went with the 360 from ps2.

And now you pay for .........................cell phone games on your tv?

Sorry,  I saw Ouya in action at a friend's house. He showed me a number of the games available, and I can't say I was terribly impressed. Hopefully for them it improves.

Have you seen Amazing Frog on Ouya. Some real next gen fun stuff in there.

If only Nintendo gamers had the joy of collecting trophies for all of their games....which I just found out they dont.

But they all seem pretty excited about Super Smash Bros getting them.

Simply got bored of Wii software. Wanted to play with my brother overseas who had a PS3 so I got that, trading in the Wii. The rest is history!

I'm a big Nintendo fangirl but I always owned Sony systems. I would switch to whatever console has the games I want... If I have the money of course.

I don't think anyone should feel like they owe some sort of allegiance to a console manufacturer, I always switched brands as well as black and forth between console and PC gaming depending on what seemed more interesting to me at the time (however I always liked the "politics" / debate side of gaming and arguing over the merits of consoles or PC hardware gets me interested all the time... I have to do it online because, well my friends don't care that much for these things).

Anyway, for me it went like this (note that I often came back to get the concurrent console years later to try the games on it and often liked it more than the favorite of the time in retrospect, the exception being the dreamcast, it's the best console of its time, bar none).

That's a lot of consoles... some over lapped others, some did not get much play time (the OG xbox and game cube were never used that much, I don't think I finished ANY games on either, same goes for the N64).

Ouya is an oddity, because I mostly play emulators on it, as I am too lazy to plug my old consoles when I want to play them and I don't want to damage them (I have much more than what's on the list up there).

The machines I can say I was very attached to at the time were: the 8-bit NES, PSX, Sega Genesis, Dreamcast... maybe the PS3/4

However if the xbox1 would have been able to hold a candle to the ps4 on a technical level, I may have been tempted to look on the other side, however like you, the Sony exclusives have been a very strong factor in my console selection (I got the PS3 when wipeout HD came out... then went on with the big titles everybody mentions + god of war 3, did not play much 3rd party games as I had a decent PC most of the time).

So you've moved the argument from "my achievements/trophies would not be in the same place" (to which the "first world problems" picture was about) to an attempt to throw an insult out there to people who do not care?

I know what you're trying to do, and I find it  a lot more hilarious than anything else you're remotely trying to make it out to be.....still, that's what keeps me on here, seeing people get so uppity about trivial things..
