at WiiU. It topped XBO last week and now it barely beat Vita.....

Just wait until Smash and MK then it will blow everything away.

That is an ignorant belief. The games would have to be more addictive than herion.

You clearly haven't been on these forums lately, almost every nintendo fan has assured us the PS4 will never outsell Wii-U and once these system sellers come out Wii-U will skyrocket.  So my beliefs are not ignorant but inevitable.

I am really shocked at how well Xbox One is selling against PS4. Its doing INCREDIBLE numbers. IS PS4 selling good?

PS4 is available in over 50 countries and Xbox One less than 20. And in US Xbox One is regularly outselling PS4 each week. Apart from only 1 week. I was lead to believe Xbox One demand was lower. Xbox should get a nice boost when it releases in the 35 or so countries which only has PS4 at the moment.

lol.

..and the award for best comedian goes to,.. SELNOR!

obviously you 2 are biased the otherway.

but if they sell 200 units in those countries each it still is a boost

What is this, a boost for ants?

Everything looks over tracked to me. Post Christmas drop off should have been in full effect this week comparing these numbers to last year. If they aren't over tracked and the week being one day early really made such a difference, then next week is going to have some brutal numbers for everyone.

This year week 52 had Sunday, Monday and Christmas Eve (i.e 3 huge shopping days) whereas last year only Sunday and Christmas Eve so yes, expect drops to be lower this week than last year but higher next week.

Thanks for the response! I did not expect that extra day to make such a difference.

You should have told me before I made my weekly prediction ;)

No I say Mario Kart is about as addictive as Heroin.

But seriously Super Mario 3D Worlds did elevate WiiU's status from "Doomed" to "Doing alright." A Couple more CC's of quality games and that could change to "Pretty good." I know PS4 will outsell the WiiU in only a few months, but I'm being hopeful that the WiiU can hold off XBO until those games arrive, and then outsell it on a weekly basis (not just 1 week) there on after.

PS4 & XBO, unlike the WiiU, have very few quality exclusives announced, they already pulled out there big guns. XBO has Titanfall, which is also available on PC/360, and PS4 has InFamous, a series which typically sells only around 2 million copies per game. They might get more stuff in fall 2014, but so might WiiU

Mario Kart on the other hand statistically sells 1/3rd as many units as there are consoles available (+30 million on the Wii, but only 7 & 10 million on the Gamecube & N64). Smash Bros as well is a guarenteed 5 million seller. These games won't push sales for 1 week, they will push sales for years.

Hopium.   I do not disagree with most of that, but I am saying the Mario kart and Smash sales will mirror the gamecube making it a lot less significant to the whole market as were these games significance on the Wii .

I also think the ones sales will drop due to price after the first six months or so (completely arbitrary guess) as the most enthusiastic gamers that do not care about price will have bought the console. The more price contious consumers will not be as motivated to buy the most expensive machine.

Maybe, but even on Gamecube these two franchises still sold around 7 million units each, they will push consoles.

XBO's sales will drop in January/February since all the christmas hype has died down, and most people who wanted the console already have it. WiiU won't drop as much because Donkey Kong releases on February, and games like Mario will keep sales up for months.

More price conscientious will buy PS4's in January/February (when retailers told me they would have PS4 in stock). Thus I expect XBO's sales to fall the most out of the 3, and thus I expect WiiU to be able to keep up with XBO, but fall far behind PS4.

Where are these PSP numbers coming from? Eastern Europe and South America?
It was ok in the USA and Japan, but weak in the UK, Germany and France.

@michael-5

Not much more to add except my belief that the Wii U will not have much higher sales this year then they had last year. And, I am aware of most of what you state so it is not worth writing an essay on well known things.

Eh, wait until the Holidays are well and truely done. When we know that pent up demand has been met and one or both arent struggling to keep up with said demand. Right now the hardware sales dont really matter. Theyre selling what theyre producing. Look at the Wii U launch and how well it was seemingly doing, right up until we hit January and it tanked hard.

That said, even tying with Xbox One in America will be seen as a pretty big win for Sony after the bloodbath that was 360 vs PS3 there. Going by VGChartz numbers they currently hold a ~200k lead in the main Xbox stronghold. Sony will be more than happy with that while the rest of the world is choosing PS4.

Almost two thirds of the Xbox One sales are coming from the US alone. When the holiday season is no more and we start to see the huge drops, the rest of the world simply arent going to be buying Xbox One in any meaningful number. Its already posting relatively poor numbers outside of the US. I think its gonna be quite similar to what we saw with Wii U sales wise up until Titanfall, where it will see a modest boost.

And talking about countries yet to have a release, lets not forget what PS4 has in February shall we?

Even factoring in Xbox One is $100 more expensive?

Less than impresive numbers outside US. EU has 1/3rd of PS4 available countries. nd Xbo One is outselling PS4 in Aus. Which I believe dint happen with last gen.

you gotta be on drugs to believe WiiU will do similar to this year with MK8, Smash, DKCR, Zeldamusou, Bayo2, X and so on coming sooner than later.

it will double this years awful performance easily. its not up to debate.
