Nintendo's Top 3 Best Story Telling Franchises?

Nintendo games usually dont have the whole story driven type of games but of course there are still some (outside of the platformers) that tell some pretty damnn good tales!

Which franchises overall do it best? (Name top 3)

I would say Fire emblem maybe as I haven't played any of them. Xenoblade and Zelda even Metroid prime had good story if you read the stuff on the wall according to some people as I personally didn't read them :P

Xenoblade, Metroid and Fire Emblem in that order. Haven't played Golden Sun though, might be a contender.

To be brutally honest, video games are a terrible medium as far as story telling is concerned. The Mario RPGs are a rare example of quality storytelling in video games and I guess Metroid has some of the elements but that's about it.

Edit: Shame on me for forgetting Mother / Earthbound, pure gold as far as story is concerned.

In that order, though I haven't played a Mario RPG game, or Xenoblade. Have played Kid Icarus, and it's 'story-heavy', but to name that one as one of the best story telling franchises after just one game (okay there's actually three, but the two old ones didn't really have a story) is probably taking it too far.

Nintendo only published Xenoblade the best they got is Metroid Prime (which even then they only contributed),

They really need to step it up with the story telling with Zelda and Star fox dammit has the potential lol

Mother (Tho I've only played Earthbound)

Fire Emblem (Radiant Dawn probably the best)

Mario RPG's (Paper Mario, Super Star Saga, etc.)

Suprised so many people putting Metroid, this coming from a hardcore Metroid fan (favorite series, own all the games).

I mean the extra / background info you get in the Prime series is pretty awesome, but overall the series nothing great storywise (but not bad).
