I think the hype has already ended for the X1. Hype for PS4 will end shortly as Wii U gets games like DKC: TF and MK8.

Dont agree,  i want something new and U specific not the same thing i played decades ago.

X could steal some hype , DK lol no.

I did not say that DKC: TF will steal hype. I meant that it will get attention from gamers which distracts them from the other current gen consoles. I have not played a DK game since DKC on the gameboy advance so I am excited for DKC: TF. X is going to be awesome and it will probably get a release date during E3 and will be shown at Nintendo's E3 conference or direct.

and then hype will ramp up again due to e3

From the second week of June hype will be there again, so this round of hype dies around April, the sales will be low on May-June, and they will recover again on August/September.

Mario Kart PS4 killer confirmed. Funny how this is exactly the opposite to what people were saying in 2008

If a console has more games it can eat in to another console sales. Hell theres people buying 360s,ps3s, and wiis for there new systems over the next gen systems because of that very reason, even knowing that they will be dead in a year or two!

If the PS4 and One do well in 2014 it's because people know many good games will come in the future.
And yes MGS5 and The Witcher 3 are on XBox and PS4 but not on Wii u, if you want to play you must to buy a XBox or PS. Wii u is not supported by third party and the hype wiimote, wiifit, wiisport which brings the casual gamers is over.

I feel like Nintendo will own E3 with the Wii U. X, Bayo 2 (if it is not released yet), SMTxFE, Yarn Yoshi, SSB4 (If not released yet), and Miyamoto's new IP, Tantulus unannounced game, along with other unannounced games getting leaked. Maybe a Pokemon MMO, and how about a new Nintendo Military FPS or a Metroid. Other third party games from Activision and Ubi and just maybe EA if Wii U sales increase.

Hype will increase that much more that may even last till Spring 2015. Anything is Possible!

The hype stops when the hype wants to stop.

I think the hype will stop at around the second week in january. Like AAA300 says, the hardcore crowd is way smaller than in the PS360 days. And the small library of mediocre games and no backwards compatibility make neither console a legit buy for anyone who is not a hardcore gamer.

lmao every gen someone cries hardcore is smaller then previous, but given how well X and 4 have been recived and in demand id easily say its grown.

Im sure many like me who stopped gaming in the later 360/PS3 years are now back full force due to new gen hitting hard and fast.

Those games will not distract anyone other then Nin loyalists.  To many games are coming to care about Dk or new MK.

Wat. I'd say it has only grown, as seen in PS360's later years. This is opposite to the casual crowd, that has gotten much smaller.

No. It's not. You can tell by the slow sales of the Wii U which is targeting a more hardcore audience than the Wii. The hardcore gamer is a relatively small group and the casuals have long gone to tablets and smartphones.
