No it wouldnt. PS3 dominated Europe even though it came out 1.5 years later than 360, it was 599 euros vs 299/399 360 consoles, inferior ports etc.

PS4 would still dominate Europe if the pricetags changed becoz the situation wouldnt be even half as bad as 2007.

This logic is somewhat faulty though because in 2006 Sony was dominant, now they are not. Each generation is different. We already see that with XBO doing "ok" despite less power and  a higher price. MS never could have pulled that off vs Sony in 2006, in 2006 they would have been destroyed. Remember last gen it was still up in the air if GTA would be Sony exclusive. Now it's unthinkable, as an example how the market landscape changes. In 2005-2006 Micrsoft was a strong underdog, now they are on equal footing.

 

Sony will likely continue to dominate mainland Europe I agree. But mainlaind Europe is not the whole market.


Indeed. But the battle isnt in Europe. Sony brought the battle back to US and UK because Euroope seems to go to PS2 level of sales ratio between platforms. While in US and UK PS4 seems to assume the role of 360, clearly selling better but not being in a dominant position either.

Microsoft has launched a barrage of Xbox One ads here. They're everywhere. Yesterday I saw four in the last 30 minutes of Finding Nemo, and five different ones (Ryse, Fifa, CoD, Forza 5, mixup) in total. It won't change anything, though.

Prove it? hahahha..Yesterday I went to 3 big shops...I asked the dependent and was told that yes, they had plenty to sell units in stock. And two of my friends have bought. Take a trip to Spain and will see. Ps4 is selling very well, true. But is a lie that said Sony.

There is a different in taste in gaming between Europe and the US. You go to an arcade here, it's full of racing games. You go to an arcade in the US, it's full of light gun shooters etc. Yes US arcades have a few racers (usually just Fast and the Furious and NASCAR etc) and EU arcades have stuff like House of the Dead. But it's a noticible difference in the popularity of them.

Therefore the presence of WipeOut, Motorstorm, Drive Club etc on a first party lineup are much more important here than they would be in the US.

Sony's first party lineup is more European focussed than Microsofts therefore they appeal more to European gamers.

PS. I'm accounting with MS moneyhating some JRPG exclusives franchise becaue if without JPRG exclusive then the PS4 marketshare will be close to 100% between PS4/Xbone.

According to my own predictions (made when they were first announced), Europe's share (including UK) between XB1 and PS4 will be

XB1 :15-25%

PS4 : 75-85%

In Japan, XB1 's share will be less than 10% for sure.
