Yes, hence why Microsoft is force bundling it. If I was them I'd force bundle it too to recoup costs because they return they would expect post 360 era isn't the one they would get. Come on do you guys seriously expect Microsoft to be dumb enough to think that casuals would spend $500 on a videogame console just for the entertainment benefits of a camera? LOL Get real.

The Xbox One just launched and every one of them comes with the Kinect, which MS built the entire experience around.

LOL @ fad.

How is that different than the Wii? Motion controls were bundled and the entire experience was built around them. People loved it to death causing it to break sales records, but in the end it still was a fad.

fad? hmmm maybe it never even amounted to that. I know I can call it many three letter words, but not "fad".

No. The sales were too strong and sustained for that. Just poorly executed like the Wii.

They didn't follow up with more compelling buys after Sports and Adventures. Exactly like Nintendo didn't after Sports and Fit.

I see nothing this gen to make people buy a Kinect, but its sales potential is unchanged given the right software.

Cool add on but pointless for gaming. Signing in by voice or camera is cool, controlling shit by voice works much of the time.

The Xbox One doesn't revolve around the Kinect though. Its a secondary experience and people can disconnect the Kinect (which alot do). The Wii's casual titles were dependent on the Wii mote. He's trying to make them sound exactly alike when they aren't. One is a secondary experience force bundled even though it was admitted that it wasnt essential and another was a primary experince which allowed for a revolutionary way to game for non-gamers. The first party was top notc as well.

While the WII had poor software through out it's end but I'm fairly certain that it was decently executed. The sales for kinect isn't exactly what you would call being "sustained" given the fact that it had largely lost it's momentum in the past 2 years that it had released so it would easily qualify for being "fad" because it didn't become a trend exactly.

No, the technologies behind Kinect (speech recognition, motion sensing, controlling other electronics, etc) will become even more integrated with computers as technology progresses.

Kinect is a fad that's gonna be around for the entirety of the 8th gen. Millions and millions of people are gonna using it... but its a fad.

It's not a fad, it's more like the tablet controller

The tablet controller wasn't a massive success.

Kinect might be one of the most successful game console add-ons ever. Its success is up there with the Wii Balance Board, but Kinect is still around because its cabable of much more.
