Forums - Nintendo - Are you mad that Smash Bros Wii U is not Smash Bros Melee 2.0?

No. Brawl was better.

And by the way, L-cancelling was an awful thing that didn't add any sort of depth to the gameplay. There was never any reason to not L-cancel, so L-canceling is not a strategy, it's a chore. It's a completely unnecessary need to press L every time you land, that is just annoying. It's not an advanced strategy, it's just muscle memory and practice that makes the game less accessible. I'd much rather them just decrease the amount of lag on air attacks overall which would keep the faster pace and more offensive nature without being annoying as hell.

this +10

Brawl was a better game, the glitches and xploits were cut from the formula.

34 years playing games.

There is something that are actually more concernig than that, like: there will be stream option? Or maybe just a replay save function? Remenber that the engine is provided by namco this time. I'm worried because the rooster so far looks so empty for a smash launching next year. And some of then looks highly unpolished(the guy from fire emblem).

Nintendo also said some times that they are not trying to aim the competive aspect of smash. It migth seems odd from then, but anyone that have played competitive games know that its not a friendly ambient, with people yelling and cursing all the time. But, hey, this is internet, people aways overreact here. If the game is solid and balanced, i see most of the meele community moving in, slowly, but they will come. Brawl community will problably move in to no matter what.

I'm a litle bit cocerned about the 2 version causing a division on community, with soem parising the 3ds one, and others loving the wiiu one.

"Hardware design isn’t about making the most powerful thing you can.
Today most hardware design is left to other companies, but when you make hardware without taking into account the needs of the eventual software developers, you end up with bloated hardware full of pointless excess. From the outset one must consider design from both a hardware and software perspective."

Most of the Melee community will  jump on the Smash Bros Wii U train.. Lack of wavedashing and L-cancelling is not going to stop them. Smash Bros Wii U will be faster than Brawl, dash dancing will be there, tripping is gone and the combos are going to be possible.

Exactly. I would prefer it if Brawl were a bit less floaty, but most of the changes complained about were merely leveling the playing field against the people who learned quasi-legal techniques.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

The last time I played Melee I thought it was really fast... but then I had got used to Brawl, which I now think is too slow...

So I guess SSB Wii U and hopefully 3DS will be the perfect game for me.

Yep.

YEAH, but I'm glad its not Brawl 2.0

Well... Melee was a great game but so was Brawl and as much as I love a combo driven fighting game, Smash Bros just never felt like it should be one to me... We have games like Street Fighter, King of Fighters and etc which requires you to have a certain amount of skill. Smash Bros should always just be fun, a pick up and play kind of thing but hard to truely master. And I like the way SSB 4 is headed with its OP characters

Am happy it is not Melee 2.0. I don't have much more input as i played these games casually over the years. Some of the hardcore fans are always mad at one thing or another. Didn't they mod Brawl to play according to their own rules or something. Not sure what was it called.

Project M. It's Brawl but with Melee stuff like wavedashing.
