Scrote Throat. As in, "OMG, that goblin's throat is totally a scrote!"

But seriously though, I don't think any part of the LOTR trilogy compared to the beginning of Two Towers. I had seen the first one so many times, had watched Gandalf fall into the pit over and over again, so this time when he fell and the camera followed him... Oh man, it gives me chills just thinking about it. Grabbing his sword and fighting it in midair on the way down, then the shot of them falling into the underground lake. Just way too much epic for me to handle. Probably the most awesome moment of the series for me, though there really were a lot of awesome moments. The shot of the Ents marching on Isengard is pretty far up there too. I think the music is what really makes it.

And if we want to talk about the most WTF/disappointing moments, I could give you an earful about the entire Shelob's Lair part.

OMG WTF are you doing giant eagle birds? Just drop us on the other side of the woods FFS! And while you're at it can you tell your mates to pick Frodo up from the shire in a few decades and drop him at mount doom.

The eagles aren't a taxi service; they serve no-one, and don't like to interfere with the affairs of men, elves, orcs, etc.

Gandalf vs Sauron in Desolation of Smaug is really good *_*. As was Bilbo's entire interaction with Smaug. That scene deserves an Oscar, absolutely flawless (and was an AWESOME job by the German voice actors!)

OMG did Peter Jackson even read the hobbit or did he just here about it second hand before making up one of the worst movie trilogies of all time.
OMG Almost none of the second hobbit movie has anything to do with anything Tolkien wrote.
OMG Peter Jackson can't write dialogue.
OMG a morgul arrow WTF you have to be kidding.
OMG the dwarves never enter the mountain while the dragon is in it in the book, the last twenty minutes of the movie are complete fabrication... and the action is bullshit overdone like the escape from goblin town in the first movie.

and so on...

What about the whole zooming in on the pupil over and over? The actual 'fight' was really cool, but when sauron turned into the fiery eye and it kept zooming into itself over and over it came across as really, really cheesy.

I think it fit in nicely with the depiction of Sauron in the LOTR movies. Each time somone was influenced by Sauron's power we saw a flash of his eye. The "endless" zoom was a nice way to show it's indeed Sauron in person that Gandalf is facing. It's also a good way to visualize how he tortures those who are brought before him (I think this topic was only brought up in the books though), casting an illusion on their mind.

Sauron becoming the pupil of the eye was cool and worked well as you say, but did they have to do the perpetual zoom thing? It just made it look like they ran out of ideas.
