I am glad of this for two reasons

I believe in someones right to decide what to do with their own body and if that includes having sex for money so be it.

Prostitution is the oldest profession for a reason and their is no realistic way to stop it so bring it into the open for the better. Illegality just leads it going underground where the conditions are terrible and std's are more easily spread.

How would it make trafficking easier?

And while it may not make trafficking harder it will reduce demand as people will not want to break the law now that prostitution is legal.

Like with drugs if you can't stop them take away their market.

I would disagree that legalization makes things worse as oposed to better.

Just go to Australia and compare the standard prostitute their to the standard prostitute in America and you will see that all making it illegal does is push prostitutes towards pimps, makes it harder to report abusive clients, has no regulation so its harder to stop the spread of STD's and puts people in jail for a victimless crime.

And legalization also reduces the demand for human traficking as a legal enterprize will want nothing to do with it as opposed to a pimp.

While I may not intend to visit brothels I will not force my dislike of them unto prostitutes forcing them to walk the streets and work for pimps which only makes things worse for everyone.

Logically i'm inclined to agree with you, however I seem to recall that research on this matter suggests that legalization does not stem human trafficking, and may in fact aggravate it, however it's a bit late for me to be doing research of any sort.

That's exactly the problem with prostitution. People will start to use vulnerable people.

They started using vulnerable people long ago because given its illegal status they needed to recruit prostitutes that few wanted to be given it was a crime at the time. Thus they went after the vulnerable types. But now that it will become more open scum like the pimps will find themselves losing business to legal brothels.

Because you create a culture of prostiution and the same corrupt officials that you paying now can complete sweep it under the rug. Look at Holland and you'll see while there are some legit ones, trafficking is a rampant problem.

The people who are pimping girls will now be able to do it while being sanctioned by the state. You allow their business to now be in the open.

Their is already a culture of prostitution in every country in the world and as it will never go away its better to get it out in the open and improve conditions rather than forcing it further underground where conditions get much worse

The pimps who currently occupy the market will either be forced out by new entrants who offer better working conditions or have to offer better working conditions. Yes some will use criminal methods to force girls into remaining under their employ and they should stopped from doing so. And yes corrupt officials can create problems here just like they can create problems anywhere but their likely already taking bribes to overlook prostitution now so they will hardly make a difference with legalization.

And business being in the open is a good thing as their will be the subject of greater levels of scrutiny from the public and potential clients. 

Makes sense, people have the right to do what they want with what they own and they own their own body.
