Forums - Nintendo - Dark Souls Producer says Wii U audience doesn't care about Dark Souls.

In short: He's a moron. If they made a Wii U exclusive version of Dark Souls, it'd sell.

Stop kidding yourself. I know you're a Nintendo fan, but seriously. He's not a moron at all. Look at the highest selling games on the Wii U thus far. Now look at the dismal sales below 100k copies sold. Third party core titles right? If you were running these third party companies you would run their business into the ground if you brought it to Nintendo in the state that they are in right now.

I think you just proved him right. Think about it....if you bought Dark Souls on PC would the Wii U be your console of choice to play it on?

Everytime someone just mentions that Nintendo fans have a different taste in games and mostly want Nintendo stuff on their Nintendo console, which is not even something bad to begin with, people like you come and pull arguments and excuses out of your asses just to try and disprove that notion. Third parties treat us badly, we only buy quality, there is no foundation on Nintendo platforms, it's all because of shoddy and late ports etc. it's always someone elses fault.

Tell me, why didn't Nintendo fans buy AC IV on Wii U? Was there no foundation? No, AC III released on the console as well. Because Ubisoft treated you badly? Yeah, I don't think so. Is the game a late port? Nope. Is it a shoddy port? No. Is it a bad game? No.

Or Cod Ghosts. No foundation? CoD games have even released on the Wii. Bad treatment? Certainly not. Late port/shoddy port? No. Bad game? Not brilliant, but certainly not 80k-copies-sold-bad.

And now about that whole "Nintendo fans only buy quality" thing, yesterday Nintendo fans collectively lost their shit over a Dynasty Warrior game with a Zelda paint coat, did they do that because they have such high standards and this game looks to fulfill their standards? No, they got hyped over it being a Nintendo game cross-over, a fucking Nintendo character was all it took to get them hyped over a game that they otherwise wouldn't care about one bit.

Nintendo fans don't care more about quality then other fans, they just want their beloved characters and aside from a couple exceptions nothing else.

This only proves that you're either paying no attention to the state of CoD on Nintendo platforms or are deliberately goal-post moving. In either case, it doesn't come off well.

So how did Activision treat Nintendo fans badly? By releasing over 100 games on the Wii and over 10 on the Wii U already, including all their big console releases? From googling I just found out, that the Wii U version of Ghosts is missing a clan feature and is running at a lower framerate, so the version might not be the best but are you really going to tell me that that was the reason for it only selling 80k copies to date?

Also I don't see how I'm goal-post moving, his post was about Nintendo fans not buying third party games cause they "only buy good games" (which is an arrogant joke btw) and because third parties always treat them oh soo badly (I mean it's not like 3rd parties know where they can actually sell their games and thus put the most efforts into those versions) and I was disproving that point with my post and even if I concede that my CoD point wasn't 100% correct that still doesn't make my post wrong.

They (devs/publishers) dont realize this kind of comments and remarks are the ones that pave the bad relations with Nintendo consumers to begin with.

I would ve bought DS if they put a effort doing the port to Nintendo.
Since they are not even bothering, how am i going to trust them in the future (that has happende since PSX launched). its a loss of confidence, and Nintendo gamers are sick of having to beg for equal and competent 3rd party

Which you can completely blame Nintendo for, they treated 3rd parties like crap in the NES and SNES days and that combined with them still using cartridges, the N64 being a pain to develop for and the much higher install base of the PS bit them in the ass.

I buy every multiplatform game on PC  why would I limit myself to inferior stuff?   (sure owning Dark Souls on PC is everything but better than the console version but thats like the first game ever xD. Well mods make it the better version)

If it would have cool gamepad functionality like lets say 2 player mode   1 on TV and 1 on gamepad (does not matter if its real coop or the pseudo "ghost" coop Dark Souls has)  I would buy it.

Gimme a reason to buy a console version instead of complaining that I wont buy it anyways.  I own Demon Souls on PS3 because there is no PC version.  If there would be no PC version of Dakr Souls2 I would def buy it on WiiU.

Doing stuff like Darksiders   (being console only just to come out on PC half a year later) results in me not buying the console version unless I am 100% sure there is no PC version coming (by then the game is like 10 -15 bucks)

I felt cheated by the Devs/THQ when I bought the 360 version just to find out a better PC version comes out.  Same happend with  TombRaider PC and then the better PS4 and X1 version. (seriously what is their excuse for not having the X1 PS4 features on PC rofl....)   I will not buy the next TombRaider game unless it is 5 bucks because of what they did.

Maybe his comment is taken on a generalizing form. Either way, would a Dark Souls port succeed on WiiU? I highly doubt it. 2m on PS3/360 is great for a this sort of game. WiiU port wouldn't even sell a decent share.

e=mc^2

Gaming on: PS4 Pro, Switch, SNES Mini, Wii U, PC (i5-7400, GTX 1060)

Just saying...you proved him right that Dark Souls on the Wii U wouldn't be your first choice. It's either HD Twins or PC for a lot of people. Nintendo products are not on the radar. The majority of people are going to play it on the main  two consoles regardless of how 'superior' the PC experience is. Games are meant to be played, if you want to screw with them mods are always there on PC. No problem with that, I am just saying that the guy isn't wrong.

2. I am not changing the title. It's not literal but it carries the same meaning.

If it carried the same meaning, then there would be no reason to change the original quote.
