Forums - Nintendo - Why Hyrule Warriors is Exciting

The implications of the game (which Salnax smartly identified) are more exciting than the game itself, which doesn't look so great to me. I haven't played any Dynasty Warriors games, however, so I'm hardly an expert on the genre.

I love Zelda more than anything when it comes to video games, but I'm not sure about "Hyrule Warriors." Maybe the final build will be more impressive.

Nintendo has actually let 3rd parties use there franchises for a long time

Sega made F-Zero GX
Namco made Star Fox Assault
Capcom made Zelda Oracle of Ages/Seasons and Minish Cap

Yes, but all of those happened two gens ago. Nintendo hasn't done this very often as of late.

I do love Dynasty warriors :D

As someone who enjoys the genre (not as much as JRPGs or Platformers) and has a dozen or so games in the category this was a brilliant announcement for me. I love that Nintendo is doing something else with Zelda while working on new main line entry. This game is already in my top ten desired for 2014 and really looking forward to it. In the mean time I have 3DS Zelda on Christmas Eve to hold me over.

Combine this with the Atlus co-developed Fire Emblem cross-over, and things do get more interesting. Hopefully Nintendo are planning to do this with other developers and developers outside of Japan.

EDIT: Namco-Bandai are also majorly involved with Smash Brothers, and Nintendo are obviously co-operating with Platinum to varying degrees in the shape of Wonderful 101 and Bayonetta 2.

It'd be nice to see Nintendo farming out their IPs more when done in the right way.

Sadly the Namco StarFox wasn't great, (they really shouldn't have had 3rd person deathmatch arena type levels) but it was still better than no game at all.

For Wii U it's looking like they realise they simply cannot put out enough content themselves for the system as they have been able to in the past.

Sonic Lost World has been allowed an unprecedented link to Nintendo IP now too with the Yoshi's Island DLC.

Yeah. I guess that's why Wei wins. You are probably a Shu loving scumbag.

I can't help it, I love the bad girls of Shu.

That Guan Suo chick is pretty cute, I must say.

I still think this is horrible.

It's simply Dinasty warriors with Link as a playable character. I don't know what the name Zelda is doing there. They could at least make a new engine and refresh some elements and make some zelda mechanics available on an action beat 'em up, but this is Dinasty Warriors undercover.

That's why it stinks, badly.

I'll tell you why is not exciting: a remake/hd port in 2013 and a spin-off in 2014 just kill any hope to see the real game at holiday 2014. I just don't know what the fuck is Nintendo doing. Their console is flopping, delaying games, useless spin-offs.

3 years after SS was perfect for a good game and they are enough incompetent to develop it. But it's ok. Nintendo Logic.
