Dynasty Warriors do well enough with good licenses behind them, like the One Piece Kaizoku Musou games. The issue is that Zelda's influence in Japan is less than optimal. If Nintendo wanted to license a Zelda game to do really well in sales, it should have been Lego Zelda (despite all the accusations of copying 3D Dot Game Heroes that would come about). Zelda's home turf is America, and the Lego games do best here as well.

Kinda BS I love musou games and have been playing them for over 10 years, everyone harps on about how boring it is but I love them. Now suddenly everyones a fan and its the best gameplay out there......Shows you can put an Nintendo character in anything and the fans will just buy it without thinking :/
This was uber extremely unexpected! I mean when was the last time a Dynasty Warriors game released on a Nintendo system? Regardless, I've always enjoyed Dynasty Warriors, though I haven't played a DW game in a long while, so it looks like this will be another title I add to my Wii U wishlist!

Dynasty does well in Japan, Zelda doesnt
Zelda does well in the west, Dynasty not so much, makes perfect sense to me

It's a cross over game. Do you expect everyone to like the LEGO or can they get excited when a LEGO game comes out based on an IP they really like?

Yeah. Fuck Nintendo for making inroads to 3rd parties and allowing them to develop one of their own games with a Nintendo themed IP that has nothing to do with the Nintendo developed IP that never had an official release date.

Heh just an minor observation. Found the some of the reactions to the news of this annoucement to be quite amusing. In that if this Musou game didn't have Link or a Zelda theme in it then nobody would care.
But yeah, I know what you mean. I hope people buy it on the basis of quality, and not just because of the name.
