They kinda are compared to handhelds.

Nah, don't think it's that bad. I'm thinking 85-90k in NA and 55k or so in Europe. 200-220k total should be withing reach for that week.
GOOOO WiiU!!
don't mind my username, that was more than 10 years ago, I'm a different person now, amazing how people change ^_^
Personally i don't get all the "well done Nintendo, its doing great".
It's competing against 6 year's older hardware. I know its starting from a bad base, so any increase looks good, but its only 74k, that still seems pretty low to me....
Has anyone got any Japan data for the second xmas for Wii, PS3 and Xbox360.. would love to see what those sales were... perhaps that will straighten out my apathy to those results :)
Will the OP also make a thread when Wii U sells a paltry 3k? Had he made a thread when it happened earlier?
Nope.
Classic cherry picking. Keep it up.

It's not record setting numbers or 3DS numbers, but in the context of the Wii U selling 3k units a few months ago, it's really good. The system is showing signs of life, when it looked dead in Japan not too long ago.

consider this, the dying 360, sold 656k in november alone in the US, the wiiu has sold 715k for the whole year in japan, yes i would say consoles are pretty much dead in japan.
Those are much better Wii U numbers for Japan. This Hyrule Warriors game is going to be huge over there. I am sure in the US they will sell some to the hardcore Nintendo fans but Dynasty Warriors over there is MASSIVE. I think Nintendo is trying to tap in to the Japan market more then ever now since Wii U sales in Europe are so bad.
The 360 did horrible during the second christmas and I believe the PS3 as well. The WiiU is not doing worst than the 360 during its first year.
