I really want a Wii U, but I think price is a bit too high right now, close to 300 bucks for a new, unbundled console.

Please don't turn this into a flamewar, I just want good projections as to when the price could drop.

Or if anyone could show me a good deal that'd be fine as well.

$300 with a bundled game ( or two  in the case of the Mario bundle) is pretty good.

Not against a PS4 at 400€ or a PS3 at 160€. The Wii U's price continues to be an issue. Either they drop it to 200€ or they won't be able to match PS4's or PS3's sales.

Prediction made in 14/01/2014 for 31/12/2020:      PS4: 100M      XOne: 70M      WiiU: 25M

Prediction made in 01/04/2016 for 31/12/2020:      PS4: 100M      XOne: 50M      WiiU: 18M

Prediction made in 15/04/2017 for 31/12/2020:      PS4: 90M      XOne: 40M      WiiU: 15M      Switch: 20M

Prediction made in 24/03/2018 for 31/12/2020:      PS4: 110M      XOne: 50M      WiiU: 14M      Switch: 65M

Didn't the thing already get a price drop? Agreed with Max for the second one; Fall 2014 $250.

October/November 2014 is my guess, get it down the Wii's price point. There are usually deals during christmas as well and possibly January, check online stores that discount excess stock, I got my monitor for 25% off in January a couple of year ago!

Late 2014.

Honestly I don't think dropping the price will do much. To really help the Wii U they should:

1) Drop it to $200 (Even if it means removing the pad)

2) Put a decent amount of storage in the unit (64GB+)

3) Do these things right before the release of SSB.

Prediction for console Lifetime sales:

Wii:100-120 million, PS3:80-110 million, 360:70-100 million

[Prediction Made 11/5/2009]

3DS: 65m, PSV: 22m, Wii U: 18-22m, PS4: 80-120m, X1: 35-55m

I gauruntee the PS5 comes out after only 5-6 years after the launch of the PS4.

Early 2015 if Donkey Kong Country, Mario Kart, Super Smash Bros. and other big titles do their job well.

It was still selling at a loss right before they dropped the price, and now it's selling at an even bigger loss. Nintendo wants "Nintendo-like" profits, dropping the price will not do that for the immediate future. The hardware itself is probably around 180$, plus the bundle has the Gamepad, a game + DLC etc....therefore no one's getting a 200$ Wii U w/ Gamepad (from an official price drop) anytime soon. Just rely on the bargains and deals for cheaper prices.

You do realize they have the skylanders bundle for 299$ with a 50$ gift card right? The skylanders bundle is 60$ by itself. So in total you get the wii u for under 200$.

Or go with the Mario bundle for 350 that's still under 300$ if you removed the games which cost close to 80$.

You can find them very easily at 250$ for the deluxe bundle if anyone wants to buy them. Walmart here has it for 259$.

My guess is a $50 price drop late next year, or whenever Smash Bros is released.

You know Wii U already comes bundled right? $300 with NSMB and Luigi U, which btw seem to be the best games the console offers right now.

I actually lucked out and stumbled upon a deal even better than THAT: $320 at Best Buy for the console and NSMB and Luigi U, Nintendoland, and a Luigi Wiimote plus.. I'd say keep your eyes peeled for special deals like that, as there will probably be more popping up. If I didn't come across that deal I'd probably still be holding out like you.
