Im not big on creating threads, but I felt compelled to make one now.

I really want to buy Final Fantasy X/X2 HD for both my PS3 and my Vita, especially with Cross-Play.

Sony and Square Enix should work together and throw us a bone!  It is completely silly that I'll have to spent $40 for the PS3 version and $40 for the Vita version to experience this game how I want to play it.

Now, I am not asking for the game to be free, nor for it to have trivial cost, but making both versions together cost more than a brand new $60 game is insane.

I would rather have Square and Sony get together and give us more reasons to buy both.  How about a Half Off Coupon for the PSN (cuts out the middle man and their cut!) for the Vita version if you buy the PS3 version?  This would help sell more copies of the game and help out the Vita.   Not sure how this wouldnt be a win win.  This would only be for a digital download code, so those who still want the physical Vita Copy (of FFX at least) could still get that.

I will probably end up buying both versions anyway...cause Im a sucker but damnit Id love to save some money.  I am glad they decided to bundle both games for the Vita in the end.

Well, before PS4 I would have liked the option to play it on either without having to buy it twice, and it is a shame others who still play on PS3 wont get that option.

I will be buying it on Vita and kinda sucks I have to buy X and X-2 seperatly, even though X-2 kinda sucks, I want the whole story :P

Anyway, the least they could do is offer it with a highly reduced 'token' price on the alternative system to the one you buy.

For example.

Pay the PS3 price of £30 (or whatever it is) then include a code on with boxed copies (obviously wouldnt be needed for PSN buys) and get 75% off the Vita version.

The best way to find out if you can trust somebody is to trust them.

I would definitely rather have it at 75%, but I think the 50% I said in the OP is more than fair (Make both versions cost the same as a new PS3 game).

You do not have to buy them separately anymore.  You buy the Physical Copy of FFX HD and get the X-2 version as a download (or buy them as downloads) for the same price.

I wish it was cross buy

Well, cross buy is an amazing feature, but let's remember that this is a hell of an HD remake.

Instead of just a texture update we get a bunch of models rework, full orchestral soundtrack and international versions features. Plus, they reduced the vita cost by making x-2 download only, instead of two disks.

That's still 40$ for 150 hours worth of great gaming experience, and the budget surely couldn't handle cross buy (they might loose a load of money on this).

It shows again that greedy people are pretty damn stupid: If you own just a PS3 you won't mind just getting the PS3 version if you never plan on buying a vita, but if you do, it can hold you off. The same the other way around.

However if you do own both a PS3 and a Vita, WHO is going to pay twice for the same game, especially a remastered PS2 game?

$60 for both would be a fair price, I think. Anyways if you really want both, just wait for the price to drop. It won't stay $40 for long.

I'm thinking of double dipping as well. :P

Yeah that would be nice, but I think I will hold out for a while to see if it comes out on PS4.

I don't care about cross buy or not, what pisses me off is that the Collector's Edition is exclusive to US... I WANT THAT FUCKING SOUNDTRACK! D:

Here's the thing, you might be able to get it separately for less. I'd think they'd release the soundtrack.

If I remember FFXIII's and XIII-2's soundtrack was 29.99 USD extra. Granted this might be both games soundtracks plus the ten bonus tracks for Last Mission.

I'm not sure what EU prices typically are for these games and soundtracks. Also, I'm buying these editions, but it's handled by digital river which is notoriously craptastic so it'll be annoying until I actually get it. Hopefully we won't have any problems. You won't get the nicer case, etc though.

Given that so far we've had cross-buy from Sony first-party titles and some download-only indie games, I don't see it spreading to third parties ever. I think the best we had was EA saying they "thought about it" with NFS. Yeah right.

Happened with Dragon's Crown too. Cross-play but not cross-buy. I don't expect it and I really don't see why it should be the norm. Time and effort is spent making two different versions of the game, why shouldn't they both be charged at full price?

That said, the one bonus point from your "coupon" idea is that I doubt many people would buy both the PS3 & Vita versions. By offering an incentive to buy both, they might actually end up getting higher sales than they would have initially.
