There's only one company that can sell portable gaming hardware to any large degree, especially in these harsh conditions, and that's Nintendo. I'd seize on the opportunity to potentially make an alliance with them.

The PSP sold extremely well, over 80 million units. Sony has shown that they can make a late turn around, just look at how they salvaged the PS3. They can still salvage the Vita.

Vita is dead for western games players but not japanese games players and i'm lucky to be the japanese games player...

The PS3's only real problem was the ridiculous $600 price point because of Blu-Ray being shoe-horned into the system.

Once the price inevitably dropped, the sales pretty much immediately stabilized.

The PS3 for example sold 440k its second November in North America ... the Vita is around 70k its second November.

That is *horrific*.

It needs more games, lower price and good marketing, and some attention that it cannot achieve during PS4 and XBOne launch window, so if something can be done, it will have to wait anyway.

So:
1. Now: just concentrate on PS4, hype the cross-platform gameplay, make time-limited bundles and special offers, do whatever can be done to keep PSV afloat without losing money.
2. As soon as costs allow to sell it with a decent sized memory stick at a good price: secure some AAA 3rd party games, boost 1st party development and relaunch it with serious effort.

About 3rd party games: most probably Capcom will make a Monster Hunter Freedom for it when PSV user base becomes large enough, but Sony shouldn't rely on it, it would be better to develop a 1st party series that like MH and Pokémon exploit psychological mechanisms of collecting in gamers' minds. Pokémon creator clearly said it several times and Capcom learned very well the lesson, maybe Sony too should have paid more attention...

The display I saw in GAME today is a good start. Very good value package of Vita (Console, 16gb card, digital Tearaway and Little Big Planet, LEGO Marvel for £169.99) and a much bigger rack than they have previously had for Vita right in the PS4 section between PS4 software and the PS4 display pod.

RIP Dad 25/11/51 - 13/12/13. You will be missed but never forgotten.

Nothing will save the Vita in the U.S. Europe and Japan are ok though, just need to keep a steady flow of games.

Nintendo and PC gamer

1 ps4-vita bundles
2 release a gta game on vita
3 cheaper memory cards
4 launch vita tv in europe :)

Make some AAA games for it.
Make some deals to get big name games on the system, another CoD, only don't give it to a shitty dev this time, another Assassin's Creed, Resident Evil, GTA, Final Fantasy (where the hell is Type 0).

This.

I really don't understand why Sony haven't just funded a huge exclusive like this yet. Surely the benefits are far greater than the costs? Nintendo seem to have no problem doing it with Platinum on the WiiU, and their games aren't doing great at all.
