I think you have a good point. The thing I loved about the Wii was the motion controls. It was a bit crappy before the Motion Plus, but after that it fixed most of the issues. I though that games that supported the Motion Plus are all really good (Tiger Woods golf, Wii Sports Resort, Skyward Sword, Conduit 2, Red Steele 2).

With the WiiU, the motion plus is now a given. They now really can produce the type of games that the Wii initially promised ... but then they went with the gamepad. Now, don't get me wrong, I really like the gamepad in "core" games like AC and ZombiU, but I have a feeling that most Wii owners are looking for those wild swingin' days with the wiimote.

And where is the golf game for the WiiU? Tiger Woods was one of the best selling games on the Wii, outselling its PS360 piers in spite of being graphically inferior. There are hundreds of thousands of corporate workers looking for a way to make golf in their living room a reality - why is no one tapping this market?

EA owns the license to Tiger woods, and PGA golf EA isnt producing for Ninty. simple

It doesn't have to be Tiger Woods per se. Any golf game will do. At the moment, there are ZERO.

And i dont see that changing soon. Yes they could make one without the license but that would be like making a football game without the NFL, the amount of people that would be interested in that is small. Your only hope is that Ninty makes a Mario golf game for the Wii U and considering that they didnt see fit to put one on the Wii the system with the dam controller that made the most sense and since they are making one for 3ds (makes no damn sense) im not holding my breath. Maybe theyll buck down and throw it in whatever Wii Sports nonsense they make next.

I don't think they're the same market. People who play FIFA or NFL on a console is looking to recreate the experience of the professional leagues on their gaming console. Golf players are different - they are looking to recreate a realistic golf setting in their living room, where they get to practice their game and pretend to be out on the course when it is actually raining outside. They don't care so much about licensing.

i disagree, i think their is some overlap. Otherwise why havent we seen a non PGA golf game in awhile? The last one i played was on PC and that was in the 90s(it was actally fun). unless they go cutesy ala Mario and hot shots (nothing wrong with that im playing the Vita one now). I can see the practice point, but i would argue even then that the Wii wasnt good for that either as the tech wasnt as good as those golf sims. Now i havent played any post motion+ or have played ones using Move(i will one day) so maybe it got better. Im all for them doing it, i like play golf video games, but i dont see it happening, especially not with WIi U sellig the way it is, a 3rd party would be afraid to try.

The real is reason, is Nintendo simply lacks confidence. They act smaller than they actually are, shoot low, and pretty much underestimates itself.

What I mean is, Nintendo had a full 1 yr head start and did absolutely nothing but ruin their product's rep. After the success of Wii, it was a fairly safe/logical move to maintain backwards compatibility. But what a company should aim for is further expansion. Nintendo should have aimed for a more, well rounded console that really attracted "U" or everybody. Yes, that means a big jump in power, like the 160 mil PS360 gamers expect. But like a broken guy, humiliated by the hot girl and never the same again (gamecube failure), Nintendo didn't even think about trying to steal even some of the, again, 160 million ps360 gamers who are eager for next gen home consoles. They got half right IMO with the gamepad. But you don't offer pizza (gamepad) without the cheese (power), never, ever sacrifice power if you are trying to regain 3rd party/core gamer support.

Let this be a big lesson to Ninty: "IF YOU DON'T BUILD IT, THEY WON'T COME".

Now if Ninty wants to continue this path of not giving a flip about power/3rd party EQUAL performing games, then they should aim lower than $350 launch console. They have to revert to $199-250 range to get momentum going early on.

Your dead wrong for the most part but I'm not surprised because most people on game forums don't know what sells. I'm especially surprised that a game sales forum such as this itself is contained with alot of people who don't know the mechanics of how a game will sell.

Would you care to explain what exactly i'm wrong about?

Your first point was was about games not being an issue on the WII U but it clearly is an issue because none of the games so far warrant a purchase of the WII U. The reason people bought the WII was mostly because of first party titles. Third party titles have never being away for nintendo to win.

You make good points, but you should try motion control golf on Wii Fit with the balance board. The closest to actual golf I've experienced inside my living room. I think if you have that mechanics, with more options for golf courses (and more realistic ones, so here the licensing will become important I guess), I think many corporate types will buy it simply to have golf-like experience at home.

Maybe if Wii Fit U is successful next year, the balance board will become populare enough to target.

man, i forgot about the balance board. Ill be honest ive had Wii for awhile and i never got the BB and quite frankly im not going to just to play a portion of a game i dont really want (never cared for Wii Fit or the entire series sans Resort). But Ill take your word for it becasue that sounds like something that works. But therein kinda lies a problem you are asking people to buy yet another add on. I imagine corporate types would already have access to some kind of golf simulation anyway, so I dont see them buying them in droves even for their home.

I think we could put the idea of Wii Fit u being successful to bed, its not going to come anywhere near the sales of the Wii one, the balance board was popular on WIi and barely anything released for it, I dont see that changing for the WIi U especially it doing GC numbers. No dev will take that risk...then again somebody decided to make a full on guitar game sim long after the who GH/RB bubble burst so who knows.

They can't have did too much in its 1st year by themselves. The only reason why its 1st year seems wasted is because we didn't see that many eunique games on the Wii U like we did on the Wii. Nobody was really trying to sculpt any ideas for the new Wii U because that game pad is limited and doesn't bring excitement to the Nintendo ecosystem like the Wii Mote did. I think the Wii U can survive with its graphical capability but Nintendo needs to actually utilize it. I believe most of their resources went to the Gamepad anyways so yea..

The Gamepad is the single most reason why Nintendo is where they are right now.

Well the Wii did pretty good early on without many 1st party titles.

Twilight Princess was the main 1st party game they had and it was already on GC. New Super Mario Bros was good enough.

The reason people bought the WII was mostly because of first party titles

if this was the case then why didn't people buy the N64 and GC for the first party? There were quality titles on N64 AND GC so what was their excuse?

@Bold Alot of the titles on the N64 weren't high quality with a few exceptions but as for gamecube there's even less quality titles as evidenced by the game sales. People bought the PS1 and PS2 instead because they were the better systems with better games, simple as that.

alot of the titles on Wii weren't high quality either so that claim doesn't hold any weight

give me a few examples

Alot of titles on the WII were high quality. If you count the amount games that reached over 1+ million then the WII would be the obvious winner.
