Forums - Nintendo - Do You Think X,Bayonetta 2 & Other First Party Titles For The Wii U Will Have Great Sales Or Suffer From Poor Sales ?

Super Mario 3D World does not have the same wow factor as previous groundbreaking 3D Mario titles. Hopefully this NSMB style crap will go away when it doesn't sell.

A Galaxy 3 wouldn't sell much better in Wii U's current situation though, we need something new. And hopefully not dumbed down for multiplayer.

Yep.

Minus at least 100k overtracking in the US ;) which puts the other figures into doubt.

it is at 235K in USA which seems right, since NPD doesn't track Toys R Us which should contribute to about 10K and samclub should do 4K so about 229K including digital, VGC might be off on retail but the number is close to the actual Physical + Digital numbers

This is not only directed at you:

the 0.71m figure is the number before the US adjustments took place. Once we get the global numbers for the most recent week, the total sales will see an update.

Previous Global sales week ending 30th November: 707k
US adjusments: -159k

Corrected Global sales ending 30th November: 548k

That's 2 weeks in the US, Japan, Others and 1 week in Europe

At the same time Galaxy had 1.34m without the Others region.

After seeing how low 3D World's numbers were despite the raptorous reviews and great buzz it had right before release, I'm worried about ALL of Nintendo's first party output at this point. It's in Vita territory now, to where even the universally praised and exciting games aren't selling to the existing customer base. Let alone driving sales in a big way.

As badly as the Gamecube sold, not only has it consistently outsold the WiiU in the same time frame, but it also had more success in terms of software sales as well. Not exactly a good sign.

The WII U is done for the most part.

Nothing is going to save the WII U. By the time mario kart 8 releases, the WII Us momentum will have dropped into the abyss.

I find it hard to believe that both these games will make a profit . Bayonetta didnt do well enough to justify a sequel on the ps3/x360. While xenoblade did ok its sales still werent that great. Taking both these to a console with much fewer sales, and I dont really see either doing great. At best I reckon both will be even or only slightly profitable. Still if the nintendo crowd really goes for these games, and we see a huge boost in wii u numbers for the rest of the holiday period (its doing well right now), then these could surprise me.

This is what I think Nintendo should do for Wii U. Release Donkey Kong, Mario Kart and Smash Bros in Feb, April and June. Thats 3 big hitting franchises that are typically 5m+ sellers released back to back to back. In theory this should move alot of hardware. Now that the install base has grown much larger, heavily advertise and focus on the smaller niche core titles they have lined up. Bayonetta in August, SMTxFE in Sept and X in Oct. For the holidays have Yarn Yoshi+Animal Crossing and maybe one other relatively big seller released (Zelda if ready).

When the herd loses its way, the shepard must kill the bull that leads them astray.

Everyone is speaking as if X will be a sure fire hit. What if X hits a Metacritic of 6.1, then what?

Yup it pretty sad to see so many great first party titles flop just because they are exclusive for a console that had lackluster sales. Still wonder how the Wii can sell so much better than any other console they make. Maybe because it the first console that uses motion gaming controller ?

It was because it was designed for a much broader audience with a central focus (motion controls) that was easy to grasp. It wasn't the first console that had motion controls (the PS2 had EyeToy, for instance), but it was done so well and marketed so effectively that people had to take notice.

The WiiU has none of those things going for it, really.

@Sabastian - Xenoblade has a 92 on Metacritic, but AFAIK it didn't have blockbuster sales despite being on the highest-selling console last gen. I'm not expecting much out of X no matter how good the game is at this rate.

Nah it impossible X will get a metacritic of 6.1. If you seen the gameplay trailer of it you can gurantee that game is gonna get a lot of 9 or 10 just like other X titles that monlith developed. It like final fantasy but even more better. Still i predict that X will sell around 1m+ in its lifetime sales depending on the hype around it.

However if it does get 6.1,then you could say bye bye to future X titles.
