Maybe they should start to sell games on USB-Sticks

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”

Bluray rom save Sony like 20$ and they would have to spend that on a bigger hard drive so it would cost the same but that way they stop the used game market.

It could happen in 5 years.

Edit: But why would you not want a unit with BD since they cost the same and does more.

I have some friends that are buying everything digitally on the PS4, so it has a place.

I have bought mainly discs, but I also wish I could install my games to the PS4 and then not have to switch discs all the time... like make it so I only have to put the disc in once a week to verify or something.

The Xbox One was going to do that before the whole world bitched about not being able to lend out or re-sell their games, but I never lend out or re-sell my games.

My 8th gen collection

Considering that xbox1 was already on the way to push this before the 1080
i'd like to see how this should have worked with ca. 90% of all potential customers neither have fast internet + are handicapped by datacaps

imagine you have a 500gb hd just like our next gen consoles have+you can't use other HDD's right now,+your 500GB is in real just 365GB.(maybe the same for ps4)
You data gap is 100GB/month,you've already downloaded matrix+lotr triology=200GB left
+ you have already downloaded 10 games.
1st problem)no space left on your HDD
2)can't buy and play new game as you already reached your data limit for this month
3()can't watch movies because of data cap
4)must delete older games to play new ones, but as soon as you want to play these older games again you must delete the new ones

5) saving 50-100dollars is a joke as you can't sell your games anymore.Just Sell 3 discgames and you have compensated the difference.
6) therefore i think streaming is far more probable(gaikai/cloud)as a streaming box could be offered for 300-400dollar cheaper.

I dont like "long time rental", I mean digital games. My console game collection is in disk form and will always be (I dont count games in my steam / origin account as actual). So I will choose disk version of PS4.

Xbox one but it would need a bigger HDD and games should be alot cheaper. I will never buy a full retail game at $60. Microsoft is working on trading/reselling/loaning for Digital games on xbox one so we will see.
*cough* The idea steam copied from microsoft *cough cough*

Did you know ps4 only supports a 2.4 wireless signal?

The xbox one supports a wireless adapter capable of 2.4 - 5.0ghz.

The ONLY next gen console to do so.

part of me would want a disc-less ps4. i was planning to got fully digital anyways.

...but the other part knows that it wouldn't cut enough cost to justify the lack of an option for buy disc based games, or play dvds, or play blurays. realistically it would only cut $30 or less and that isn't all that motivating.

psp go anyone, removing the disk drive didn't make it cheaper

Bet reminder: I bet with Tboned51 that Splatoon won't reach the 1 million shipped mark by the end of 2015. I win if he loses and I lose if I lost.

The disc drive is probably one of the cheapest devices in either console.

Either way, the downloads are just too massive and I plan to rent games. So I don't want a discless console.
