"Nintendo has done terrible with their one year headstart on the wii u."

pretty much says it all. ps4 and xbone have a chance to pass wiiU before the year is out and once that has happened the year advantage is entirely gone.

It did slightly worse than the 360 in it's first year but a lot better than the PS Vita.

no it didn't.  ever so slightly behind really.

IT's not as bad as everyone think it did. By the end of the year the WiiU should reach 5 million sold. By march 2014 there should be another price drop to bring the system down to $250 sales should pick slightly and WiiU will sales around 30 million lifetime unless we get another 7 years cycle then it could reach the 50 million.

It's done worse than everyone thought it would do. Taking 14 months to reach 5 million sold is beyond disastrous. Right now The WiiU is tracking below Dreamcast numbers. 50 million lifetime is not happening.

Sigs are dumb. And so are you!

It's done worse than anyone could have imagined a year ago.

I disaggree at $350 many were calling Nintendo foolish and stupid for selling WiiU way too expensive. Also, many experts claim that the WiiU would not be able to compete against the cheaper PS3 and Xbox 360.

The somewhat sucessfull launch of the WiiU kinda confused the nay sayers but they were proven right the following 9 months after the holiday season. Nintendo has run into cronic problem in development of WiiU games and the software was simply not ready so they never bothered lowering the price of the console until they add enough softwares realeasing to cover the loss on the consoles.

But non the less Nintendo as over 4.2 million consoles at the official start of the 8th generation of consoles (November 2013).  Nintendo will start the new year with more or less a 2 Million consoles sold advantage.

That's not an accomplishment, those numbers are horrendous. And that 2 million advantage will go away very quickly.

Bolded: Which it hasn't, the PS3 has sold 6.5-7 million this year and the 360 over 5 million so far. As it stands, the PS3 will probably end up selling over twice as much as the Wii U for the 2013 cy and the 360 at least 65-70% more.

Italic: And that lead will last for how long? 9-10 months at the most, at this rate.

As for the middle part; they have been forced to forego the software profits that covered the loss by bundling most of their biggest games. We can assume that they lost money on a 299$ Wii U stand alone as we know that they lost quite a bit on each unit at launch so packing in two games in addition to this really screws with the maths for them in the long run.
