The NES had Super Mario Bros. The SNES had Super Mario World. The N64 had Mario 64. Dreamcast had Sonic. Xbox had Halo. Gamecube had Rouge Squadron 2. Wii had Wii Sports.
It's not that rare of a thing. I think it's a business move these days to NOT put huge AAA titles on a launch console because of install base. After PS2, companies realized people like us will buy a console on promise.
