''For better or for worse, Vita will be pitted against the Nintendo 3DS. But the comparison doesn't make a whole lot of sense, and even if you were to pit them against each other, Vita is still destined to sell better. That's because in addition to games (which Nintendo 3DS is still sorely lacking), it's also a much more powerful machine capable of doing a whole lot more than 3DS. Vita is therefore not only echelons ahead of 3DS in terms of games, but it's light years ahead of Nintendo's handheld in terms of tech. Comparing the two isn't even really fair and it's a fallacy to continue to do so. Nintendo isn't the primary competition for Sony this time around. The Nintendo 3DS is certainly not going to take the Vita out with its N64 ports and tired, worn series. Should Sony feel threatened by its competition? Sure. But Nintendo is the least of Sony's concerns these days''

To be fair with the 3DS this is an article from the same site, price cut related http://www.ign.com/articles/2011/07/29/history-says-the-3ds-is-doomed

| Rychussnik said: To be fair, when this article was written, both consoles were the same price, the 3ds wasn't selling well, and we didn't know how expensive the vita memory cards were. But, looking back, it's still a funny read lol, i don't think anyone other than Sony fanboys thought that the vita was going to outsell the 3ds. |
but the 3ds had amazing games announced (kid icarus, kh ddd, resident evil, 3d land, mk7) while vita had nothing. so it was just the usual nintendo doom and gloom.
The old blind power talk....... power is not everything to make a product attractive to consumers.
Vita couldn´t even match the 3ds launch sales.
I´m sure that if it wasn´t for the price cut, the situation could be different, but even Vita´s price cut didn´t help much. It has three or four weeks of good sales and then dropped again. Videogames need more than just processing power to sell.

Nowadays, we are all laughing at all those initial "3DS is doomed" rants. How the tables have turned, right?
How many of you think that by this time next year we will finally be laughing at the "WiiU is doomed" fad. I surely hope so!
