Forums - Movies & TV - Went to the Hobbit night and I must say... [NO SPOILERS]

... that the movie was brilliant in every way. I enjoyed part 1 but damn, I really loved the desolation of smaug 3D. Peter Jackson has created one of the best movies this year and it was a real step up from an unexpected journey.

After seeing the first one again in Theaters I thought that it was better than the first time but the only thing in my mind was how they are going to continue after the movie ends. Then at 00:01 the second movie starts and I'm really excited, but perhaps that was because of the sugar (I ate a lot of free popcorn :)

All the characters were interesting and you really got to know some of them better which makes you care about them (which was lacking in part 1). The action was thrilling and the scene with the barrels just gave me an adrenaline rush (whole audience was amazed with a lot of wow moments) and the Dragon... holy crap! :D  The pacing in the movie was perfect, finding the right balance to get everything on the big screen is done very well.

This movie reached Lord of the Rings levels for me and was at least better than the two towers.

My only complaint: Next year is still far far away :p

Good to hear; the first part, while a good movie, lacked the genius of the LOTR trilogy for me.

I disagree. I foudn LOTR to be boring as bat shit with is dragged out story of usless dialogue.

Hobbit at least kept me awake. SO if the second is better than the first it will be great.

If this one doesn't get oscars ...

Fellowship of the Ring and Return of the King rank among the finest pieces of filmmaking I've seen.

Different strokes for different folks.

I'm still waiting until I think 28 dec until it premieres here

So it is happening...PS4 preorder.

Greatness Awaits!

Sweet! A very encouraging read. I enjoyed the first, but i felt like it was missing something. It didn't have the splendor of its predecessors. I'm more excited to see it now.

That's so true. I find the Fellowship and the Two Towers the best LOTR movies. The Fellowship being far better than the Two Towers, but the latter is still very entertaining. ROTK just seemed like a bloated mess, with far too much going on, with more of a focus on spectacle than substance.

Part of it is just my take on the story though, it's far more open and entertaining at the beginning of the book for me as well.

Two towers and rotk were horribly done and drawn out to match the fellowship! I loved the first one and went to the theater for two towers and was falling asleep what a bad sequel did we really need the long talks with the trees like that? And rotk plot was just bad I know you cant change the books but god damn the last two movies was just army fights and less smaller battles/one on one duels. The fans of the last two movies are just living off the glory of the first movie and look past all there flaws! I hope the hobbit doesnt suffer the same fate, right now I rank the hobbit movie better than all lord of the ring films.
