Tell Sony to get ESPN app to save me from subbing to cable then we'll talk about it.

Then who talked about Live?

Now wait a minute - don't you already need a cable subscription to watch ESPN on the ESPN app? I don't know - I thought that was the case.

Xfinity internet suffices.

That's pretty cool.

Both services pale in comparison to Amazon Prime, IMO. That doesn't mean that either of them is a poor value, though. PS+ is pretty much the best deal you can get as a console gamer, but there's always something better.

Name me another service that rents better games.
Untill then -> PS+ = king

Fixed that for you. You are not "given" the games as you do not own them.  You are not given anything when you have to pay money for those things. Thats like saying my car was given to me, even though I paid for it.

must be really long rental periods, my brother stills has his free rental games from 2010.

It's better then xbox live that's all I know. Comparing netflix to a game service? Netflix gets the shows after they have already aired...................Usually quite awhile later.

There is more to plus then the games...The auto updates, cloud saving for cross plat like MLB the show and other benefits as well.

What's hilarious is having to bring up netflix, which it is not even in competition with....Trying to deflect the attention away from Live?

seeing as you have internet... an internet connected device with a web browser should be able to access espn... i know i do it all the time on my computer, phone, ps vita, and ps3.

sure it would be nice to have an app on the playstation systems, but with all the other devices i have, its really not needed.

Netflix doesn't give you video games while PlayStation Plus does. And I torrent all my videos so it's free regardless.

So what's the big deal about Netflix being behind a paywall?

If Sony got an ESPN app and they were being consistent with their 3rd party services policy, it wouldn't be behind PSN+ paywall.

But really where's all this PSN+ criticism coming from, from XBL Gold fans? I would expect these criticism threads to come from Nintendo fans given Nintendo doesn't have a subscription online service.

Live is the onlt competitor to PS plus.. Tell Ms to stop hiding netflix behind a paywall and then we can talk.

OP didn't mention Live.

Conversations evolve..........................crazy I know.

The OP tried to say all ps plus gives is free indies lol, totally misinformed.  The sheer numebr of AAA games this year alone is crazy, Xcom, Hitman, Borderlands 2, Grid 2 just to name a few.

Did I criticize PS+?

Lets start with the number of titles available, Netflix US has 10186 movies/shows available compared to 20 for PS+.  Imagine what people would say about Netflix if it only offered 20 titles to choose from (or even 200 for that matter).  Yet PS+ gets away with offering just 20 titles and not only that, you need to own all three of their systems to play them all.

Well PS+ gave you (51/795=0.064) 6.4% of the PS3 library in 2012, and Netflix gives you (10186/377013=0.027) 2.7% of the film/TV library (using Wikipedia and IMDB). This means PS+ is worth about 237% of Netflix before taking into account price. One year of Netflix is $71.88 and one year of PS+ is $49.99, which means PS+ is worth 341% of Netflix.

That is as close as I can get to making this a fair comparison, and it is pretty clear PS+ comes out on top.
