Forums - Sales - Sales: What exactly is "other"?

A better question would be, in which countries outside NA, EU and Japan does VGC have meaningful tracking infrastructure?

Actually, yes. Of course it's not "all other countries" because consoles don't get sold in every country out there. Still it looks like Sony sells their consoles to more countries than MS or Nintendo, although it *could* be that they are also more popular in the dark matter.

By the way, are consoles now available in China (beside the clones ;)).

I was going to suggest putting a map of the world on a wall, putting on a blindfold and throwing a dart at the map. Wherever the dart hits it has a 80% chance of being on a country in "others" or in a body of water where the nearest country is an "other" country. Alternatively, pick up an atlas and pick a random page, chances are it'll be one of the "other" countries.

Of course the more apposite question is what "other" countries does VGC directly get sales data from as opposed to doing some arithmetic extrapolation? I know back in the good old says there used to be a hardware table for NZ and Aussie (combined) sales, and Middle East if memory serves. But now we're all just afterthoughts and/ or behind the pro paywall.

It's where VGChartz doesn't even have a sales tracker.. it's adjusted by Official numbers - NPD/GFK which track the three regions..

Africa, Central and South America, Eastern Europe, all of Asia except Japan and Australasia. Everything that isn't Western Europe, North America or Japan

Xbox Series, PS5 and Switch (+ Many Retro Consoles)

I feel that I should point out that Australasia isn't in Asia. Asia is in Australasia.

That came out wrong. Although, Australia in particular seems to be looking to Asia for trade more now than ever before. But still, it was a minor mistake

Russia is included to Europe region by both Sony and Nintendo.

it used to be eastern europe too maybe it still is ,and why psp does well there i think

i remember when sony started to pick up sales back in the last gen when you could comment on the weekly charts, people would complain on the charts every week that it wasn't fair because sony sold to more territories

So Russia for MS doesn't belong to Europe, so it's in their "other"? Or is MS not selling their consoles in Russia?

I live in the bahamas and I can speak for my country when I say, the playstation brand rules this region.
