To be honest, I kind of want to bet with the people who think it will be DKC and say that it wont be. While I'm not saying it's impossible, I really don't think it's all that likely. People saying it's a confirmation it isn't Zelda U, that would be a very roundabout way of doing it considering Zelda U HAS been announced before. If they wanted to say that, they would have used the word "previously shown" or some kind of indicator we've seen footage before.

"New look" was used in another instance, giving credence to the idea that it's a game we have seen already. "World premier" was the sticking point.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

...well...that's a disappointment.

If it's first gameplay shown of X or Zelda Wii U, I think I can settle.

If it's anything else, I'm going to set fire to NOA's headquarters.

We'll see how ready Reggie's body is when he's well done.

They're going to be dumb enough to show Donkey Kong, aren't they.

Never underestimate the oblivious nature of Nintendo..

Why are people acting like vgx will affect wiiu sales? Again he will probably be on for 5 minutes on the online show and a minute or none on tv. Why are people pretending vgx is going to get anyone to do anything. A tv ads will have effect than VGx . I'm starting to believe some of you guys are oblivious to the actual facts and saying nintendo out of touch just because its "cool". Please some give logical argument why vgx is going to important for nintendo if it is going to be online and only have one hour of tv which nintendo name will be dropped 2 times at most.

It is DK and MK8, and it is good, because Nintendo need to sell those puppies

My grammar errors are justified by the fact that I am a brazilian living in Brazil. I am also very stupid.

I can see how "New look" would do that, but "World premier" doesn't exactly say we've seen any of it.  It's possible that "new look" was used in respect to the franchise itself.  Of course, what my real bet was on was that it wont be DKC rather than it will be Zelda U.

It's possible it could be X, but I don't know if they would do Bayonetta 2 considering we've already seen quite a bit from that.  Also, DKC was set to release earlier this year but was delayed.  If it were DKC, then it means that their appearance at VGX would be one that was decided relatively last moment.

edit: Although, the more I think about it, if it has to be something we've seen some of already... the likelihood it's Mario Kart is above all else.  Why?  Because there are features they vaguely mentioned that we have not seen any of yet, and this could be a good move for them to get them known.  It would be especially helpful considering how big Mario Kart is (much bigger than DKC is).

I'm actually beginning to think that the game will be Bayonetta 2. Either that or Smash, because they would appeal to regular VGA watchers.

I'm not ruling out X, since this is apparently a "world premier". It's still a huge possibility. Heck, I wouldn't rule out Zelda either, because it was technically announced in the January 2014 Direct. Even so, I'll keep my expectations in check.

For me, the 'new look' that is intentionally in quotes and the world premier hints tell me it's Zelda for Wii U. No Zelda ever has the same art style, and that would be Nintendo's way of hinting at this. I also cannot believe that Nintendo would simply appear for the first time ever at this annual event and drop DKC: TF details. Nintendo always has aces up its sleeve, and since the reveal of Zelda has already been pushed back twice (almost shown at E3 2013, almost shown at Comic-Con) and Eiji Aonuma has stated "as soon as I get back to the office, I'll be working on getting something together to show". It's been over a month since then. Zelda is ready for its reveal.

Zelda is bigger than a Nintendo Direct announcement. At least, home console Zelda is. And it's overdue for a trailer. Let's see it, Reggie.

...considering the average viewer of the VGX, it probably isn't the best place to be advertising DK and MK8.

It's gonna be DKC. Cranky Kong cometh!

It just makes sense in Nintendo "marketing logic". It's the next game they have to sell, and they probably don't want to be spending a lot of marketing dollars in Feburary after spending a good amount over the holidays.

So getting DKC exposure at VGX saves them a few bucks on TV marketing and "checks a box" as far as getting the next game they need to sell some exposure.

Bayonetta 2 would probably be the smarter game to showcase for that audience though.
