Forums - General - why do all xbox fans block their profile

Sir, mine is not blocked. Nor would I want it to be. If you take a look, you'll see why.

Author of science fiction and other genres, I write under the pen name Desmond Shepherd. The second season of my series The Permanent Man premieres on November 11, 2014. Pre-order the season premiere The Walls Have Ears on Amazon today!

I guess I have to block mine then also.

They probably get a lot of negative comments on their profile pages if they don't. Also, in some cases it's probably personal preference to not show too much to anyone.

They're "losing" right now, and don't wanna put up with the same crap they gave Sony all last gen (up until the PS3 passed the 360).

I would say "oh, you can dish it out but can't take it", but being on the receiving end of "losing" for a while, it's not fun having to defend and justify the reasons you made your console choice (at least, not on their personal profile page). And I don't think it's cool to put that same pressure on them. Since Sony fans haven't been the "bigger man" about it all, they just nipped it in the bud and made it so you can't flame them at all. Which is a good thing, in the grand scheme of things

why does anybody? it actually really annoys me when I want to check why somebody got banned...

It's usually a Male American thing. You know, independence and macho hierarchy and stuff.

Having to ask for a permission to see their profiles (a friend request) places you down in the status hierarchy next to them. You are the needy part and they hold the knowledge you are after. It's almost sadomasochistical in nature. On the other hand, it can be perceived as offensive to some because it's an impediment when you want to have interdependence and mutual understanding.

@haxxiy
That would make sense, as xbox is the US macho console.
Hell, it takes a macho man just to carry the box home. :D

I think I read this in the back of Cocoa Puffs.

Am I right?

I love being labelled as a mere "Sony fan". Always brings a chuckle. Although, based on this thread, it's good to see who stalks who.

In any case, my profile is blocked to people who aren't friends because I prefer not to be bugged by the spam bots. In regards to the "Xbox fans", I believe BMaker said it best.

For me, won't matter after Dec 31, 2013, however. ;)

why what happens january 1st?

lol, are you telling me you can block other from viewing your profile on this site!? Damn, always thought that was a weird error when it didn't go to their profile.
