UK online retailer Play expects the Wii U to be the most wanted present for kids this Christmas, beating both the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4. Play.com owner Rakuten claims that the Wii U has seen a 75 per cent sales spike in October, due to a number of high-profile releases. The company says that Wii U and iPad will be the most wanted presents for children this Christmas.

“The marketplace’s social media analysis surprisingly showed that the brand new PlayStation 4 and Xbox One consoles are trailing in second and third place respectively behind the Wii U and iPad.”

“This is despite the fact that both new consoles sold out on Rakuten’s Play.com during Black Friday, which have since been restocked. It appears that those on the hunt for the latest consoles are gamers rather than consumers buying for their loved ones.”

Errrm... Well kids won't play CoD or Assassins will they? Not saying much.

Nice, it'll be good if it gets a boost. WiiU is a great choice for the kids aswell alot more games aimed more towards the kiddys. Rather than the xbone and PS4 which tends to have more games aimed towards adults.

1) Kids don't buy their own Christmas presents
2) The 'squeakers' on COD etc. are probably no younger than 12 in most cases (giving ages 5-12 to Nintendo)
3) Parents are pretty damn price sensitive
4) PS4XB1 have no games right now

In the last week at eb factory i've personally packed about only 10 individual WiiU's...Thats restock for 39 stores, In the same time I've done 3 pallets of ps3(54 on a pallet) 2 pallets of 360's, 80 pallets for PS4 arriving on monday which will be sent out instantly and 60 pallets of Xbox ones that arrived today that will be sent out next friday as stock is running low now. Demand for the WiiU isn't there.

It does make sense.
Wii U does have Mario, Lego City, Wii Party U and Just Dance bundles for this Christmas. All them appeal to kids aswell.

I also predict that the WiiU will dominate at some point, but in the UK?

Game in particular seems to have a personal grudge against Nintendo! Although my local Grainger Games doesn't even stock the console anymore.

Or maybe it's just the Leeds store.
