Doom 'n gloom , yo!

So we've had THIS. Jason Rubin, co-founder of Naughty dog and former THQ boss, said that Nintendo is irrelevant as a console manufacter. I didn't watch the interview (too lazy to listen =P) but the most important thing he said was "it's a crime that we do not play those (Nintendo) games on the systems that we have". Could you be anymore stupid?

Let me put Rubin's shoes on... ahem... "How dare Nintendo make such amazing software only playable through their own hardware? Why can't we play SSB in my so awesome PS4!? What's wrong with Nintendo? This business model ~releasing exclusive and amazing software in their systems~ is totally not correct! They have to fail, because people will not buy Nintendo's console to play Nintendo's games, they should go 3rd party!"

And this is not coming only from the industry "professionals", the gamers are also saying all this. "I wish Nintendo fails so I can play Zelda on my PS", "Nintendo should sell themselves to the BIG BOYSSSSZZ M$ and Sony, so I can play SSB", etc. REALLY PEOPLE?!

How dumb will I sound if say "I wish Sony fails so I can play Uncharted and Killzone in my Wii U" or "M$ should sell Halo to the BIG BOY Nintendo". Not only is it dumb, but I'll get crucified by the M$ and Sony fanbase. And also, their sooooooooo irrelevant that nobody is copying the motion controls, gimmicks, games, touch controls, remote play, analog stick, rumble feature, D-Pad, and pretty much any good idea from Nintendo (and yes, I know Sony made the EyeToy first((I actually own one)) and technically remote play)

Somehow, out of all of that, you missed the "right now" part.

I think whats more irrelevant than Nintendo is all the people that are saying Nintendo is irreverent and should go third party

Nintendo makes themselves the odd man out from the conversation. Half of that is because of their issues of alienating themselves with third party. As a first party brand they are quite strong, but that isnt everything.

As far as Consoles go at the moment, yes. Handheld design mere-perfect

Go 3rd party Nintendo, I miss playing your games!!

The constant bashing of Nintendo from guys like those is the sole proof that Nintendo isn't irrelevant. It reminds me of the whole "any press is good press" phrase we always hear. Nintendo will have a problem when people are not even trying to bash them anymore. You don't hear these kind of things about the Vita from anyone and that's the sign of true irrelevance.
