Forums - Sales - Nintendo Seen Missing Target as Sony-Microsoft Dwarf Wii U - Bloomberg.

interesting how these kind of articles are misleading and even biased.

while WiiU is still suffering, 3ds sales are amazing. It´s just not the best seller console right now because that was Xbox1 launch week. When the hype passes, 3ds will be on top again, as it stayed during pratically every week this year.

Yes, their home console is suffering, but I don´t see Nintendo in big financial trouble while the 3ds keep selling like crazy

That's true, but I think Nintendo has to consider putting their franchises on tablets and phones. Their software is what people want and they will buy it if it's available.

Author of science fiction and other genres, I write under the pen name Desmond Shepherd. The second season of my series The Permanent Man premieres on November 11, 2014. Pre-order the season premiere The Walls Have Ears on Amazon today!

Could this be one of the few moments where Pachter actually said something that made some sort of educated sense? It might be folks, it might be. And sadly, it's about how horrible the Wii U is doing.

Do $1 phone games really even make that much money? Show me how many iOS/Android games sell well at even $10-$20.

Nintendo sells 6-10 million copies of their Mario/Mario Kart/etc. IP on the 3DS at probably a good $15 profit per unit.

For them to match that on smartphone they'd have to sell 90-150 million downloads as a $1 iOS deal. It just doesn't make sense.

Great that woods didnt forget to say: u can buy a xbox for you kids, its childfriendly.

Called it ^^.

And for everyone saying "Oh, but Nintendo will be fine due to 3DS sales and that huge pile of money"....not quite true.

R&D of a new console should take years and billions. Most companies do this with either money coming in from their current console, or other avenues of vast profit/capital. Sony is huge, and MC is MC. Nintendo only have this one pile and they have not even started any R&D meaning they would have to take a break for 3+ years before they could solve this problem...which would cost them their fortune.

Some companies make absurd amounts of money on the mobile/tablet market while most make next to nothing, there isn't a lot between. Low debut prices, massive competition, unbalanced weighting systems and ridiculous royalty fees for putting up content is choking most of the dollar from most developers. They get by, but not much more.

Actually no, since 6m is way to high

The 6 Million number is for WW, correct? Then it's not too high. According to VGC the Wii U has sold 4 Million units. With the rest of the holiday and MK7/DKC, it should be able to reach that number. Should.

It was in the context of the fiscal year.  In the first six months it shipped 460k.  The only way they can even come close to 6 million is if they ship over four million this holiday quarter.  In comparison the 360 and PS3 shipped 4.4 and 4.9 million respectively in their equivalent holiday quarter.  Considering they were seeing higher and steadier sales, I doubt the Wii U will be that close.

Considering that, I understand now. However, a much lower number would be disastrous.
