Forums - Sony - PS4 EU Numbers?

BTW.

LE FIGARO - Will you announce the two million mark for PS4s sold worldwide by Saturday?

Andrew HOUSE - I'm crossing my fingers. But we'll need more than 24 hours to calculate the European sales. It's more complicated to measure European sales. It was simpler to measure the North American sales because we only had to count the retail sales from two countries - United States and Canada.

I'm starting to think MS bullshit about the 1 million sales because they just estimated the Europe part... the tracking services in Europe needs more time to get this data.

MS's numbers were bullshit because they announced 1 million sold for 24 hours before 24 hours was up. There's no way they accurately tracked data from all around the world to determine that - they probably just assumed they sold out.

MS's numbers were total bullshit, you cant possibly know sales so quickly in so many different countries in europe, though they didnt say " sold through customers " , just " sold through ", they like to play on the words

Predictions for end of 2014 HW sales:

 PS4: 17m   XB1: 10m    WiiU: 10m   Vita: 10m

They give the sales before 24 hours? I dear God.

Whatever they shipped is gone, so it all boils down to how many units they supplied. Same thing for North America. The One is in a similar situation, both consoles had a ton or pre-orders, it will be interesting to see how that might affect the overall 2014 sales though, I really find it hard to predict what they can and cannot do globally for next year.
I think there is absoltely no reason to think that record pre-orders and first week (and day) sales will amount to record lifetime sales though.
Seemingly, this all fits neatly with my view on the industry today; technology and gaming moving faster and faster, but not lingering, I think this will be the shortest generation yet.

Yea, in my opinion people just have gotten more used to preordering/early adopting, so the generation might turn out more frontloaded than previous ones (maybe with some similarities to how the Wii behaved in sales).

Since it's Sony, the PSN has been broken for some days and there is no supply left they will only come out with it when they are able to give some good news along the side. Like new shipments arriving before X-mas or something.

It's no good to announce a 'sold out' until january right...

Just a guess.

PSN broken? It worked pretty well last night. I'played some Street Fighter, no prob.

Yes broken. Redeeming codes and what not were taken out because of problems. Awesome that you have no problems btw.

Still puzzled... I tried to download a game from my download list and all fares well. Yet, I don't possess any redeemable codes at the moment, so I can't have a say on that. Also, I'm referring to European PSN.

You do know that you are just one out of many and Europe is a pretty big place... right?

PlayStation Network announcement

UPDATE 3 (9.09pm GMT, 1st December): We have been working on the PSN service roll-out throughout the weekend and are continually increasing the availability of the voucher redemption functionality. The next phase of the roll out is to introduce the What’s New Activity Feed and Live Item in the Content Information Screen, which we will be able to update you on tomorrow. Thank you for your continued patience as we manage PSN to restore full service.

Europe must be hard as fuck to track right, vgchartz had issues for years

Bet reminder: I bet with Tboned51 that Splatoon won't reach the 1 million shipped mark by the end of 2015. I win if he loses and I lose if I lost.

Well, you had just said that "PSN was broken for several days" and I have said that that wasn't the case for me :). Let me repeat myself: I've played online last night and downloaded a game from my download list. Given that Europe is a "pretty big place", guess that me and my playmates are the only extremely lucky guys to use the broken service last night.

This, I stole from grandpa...It's called soap.

Are you serious? Still taking my 'broken' comment literally and turning this into a 'he said she said'?

I'm extremely happy for you guys. Now i'll happily leave you to your Ps4.

ah.. can't wait for the ps4 euro numbers, sure it's gonna be beastly..
