The One is in a similar situation, both consoles had a ton or pre-orders, it will be interesting to see how that might affect the overall 2014 sales though, I really find it hard to predict what they can and cannot do globally for next year. I think there is absoltely no reason to think that record pre-orders and first week (and day) sales will amount to record lifetime sales though. Seemingly, this all fits neatly with my view on the industry today; technology and gaming moving faster and faster, but not lingering, I think this will be the shortest generation yet. |
Yea, in my opinion people just have gotten more used to preordering/early adopting, so the generation might turn out more frontloaded than previous ones (maybe with some similarities to how the Wii behaved in sales).
