Forums - Nintendo - Are Nintendo fans showing a lack of faith in the Wii U?

Yes because Nintendo doesn't give much crap about Wii U and treat the 3DS even more better. Just compare Wii U games to 3DS games. There is only one game i interested in Wii U and that is Super Smash Bros but of course you can play it on the 3DS too so why bother ?

I lost faith in the Wiiu because the console became poor at everything, I only ended up using it as a youtube player

netflix didn't work it was a joke

I'm not hating on it you can check my Wiiu posts from last xmas I was encouraging people to give it a shot

I will never buy another Nintendo console the company has become a joke, I wish things were different

I can recall being proud to own Mario 4, un squadron, castlevania 4, super aleste, starfox, axelay, sf2

then things went down from there onwards!!!

lets hope they can turn things round

Bitch I will drop kick you if you don't play SM3DW.

Anyways, I go where the games go, I'll buy a PS4 when I see games I want on it that don't require online MP, same for X1, right now, Wii U is where the games are at, and my trusty PC.

i would most ps2 third party games skipped xbox/GC, some third party exclusives were funded by microsoft, some because the xbox hardware was extremely developer friendly, then nintendo did an horrible design on the console, how cool is a purple lunch box, but the gamecube got many resident evil exclusives games, and got a metal gear solid remake, third part wasn't great but it wasn't that far off from the xbox.

GCN was also held up as being easy to develop for. It still had the worst third party support of the three, and the main reason was that thid parties turned their backs on Nintendo with the N64.

Third parties tried to work with Nintendo, but Nintendo doesn't work with them. When Nintendo opens their minds they'll be there.

burnout? really? that still wouldnt count for the majority. IM sure that more games were released than games were NOT released for GC, BUT perhaps it was a substantional chunk

Since this is a topic that comes up every now and then, I went ahead to look through my old magazines. So here is which multiplatform games were not coming to the GC, based on a release list from E3 2003. This is still rather early in the GC's lifecycle (less than two years old at this point). Games that were irrelevant for Europe were excluded from their list (i.e. college sports titles), it's a German magazine.

1. Alias
2. Alter Echo
3. Backyard Wrestling
4. Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance 2
5. Battlestar Galactica
6. BDFL Manager 2004
7. Colin McRae Rally 04
8. Conflict: Desert Storm 2
9. Crash Nitro Kart
10. Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel
11. The Fast and the Furious
12. Freedom: Soldiers of Liberty
13. Full Throttle: Hell on Wheels
14. Gladiator: Sword of Vengeance
15. The Great Escape
16. Lord of the Rings: The Treason of Isengard
17. Judge Dredd: Dredd vs. Death
18. kill.switch
19. Legacy of Kain: Defiance
20. Lobo
21. Mafia
22. MX Unleashed
23. NBA 2k4
24. NFL 2k4
25. NHL 2k4
26. Robin Hood: Defender of the Crown
27. Star Trek: Shattered Universe
28. SWAT: Global Strike Team
29. Whiplash
30. Wrath Unleashed
31. X-Files: Resist or Serve

Multiplatform games that skipped the Xbox:

1. Dragon Ball Z: Budokai
2. Three Angels for Charlie
3. Frogger's Adventures: The Rescue
4. I-Ninja
5. Sphinx and the Shadow of Set
6. Tak and the Power of Juju

That is for E3 2003. It's perfectly possible that some of the above games were ported to additional platforms, but it's just as possible that games that were announced for all three got cancelled for the GC somewhere down the line. Unfortunately, there is no such list for E3 2004, but the general release lists for PS2/Xbox/GC around that time show a ratio of about 2.5:2:1. The lack of PS2 games is easily explained by many Japanese games simply not making it to Europe. Around the same time in 2005, the ratio is about 4.5:3:1. It's not that the overall number of upcoming releases increased, rather the GC share decreased.

yes, yes that makes sense. I think i do a list of MP games that did go to GC its entire life, but i guess the point is that GC kinda got left out in the cold toward the end. Hell i havent even heard of half those games.

I don't lack faith on great games coming to the system. I just lack faith in the Wii U as a console.

It already has some great games and more in the pipeline. Nintendo being down just makes them come out with better games at faster schedule.

The Wii U on other hand has been a real let down from the start. Other than have a phenomenal controller with some amazing lagless dual-screen technical capabilities, its the worst OS for any gaming system after the Wii. Even the 3DS is better because at least it is faster and more responsive and doesn't crash or give long loading screens just to access settings or whatever.

Seriously... the Wii U OS as it launched made Healthcare.gov look good.

Reason I don't expect or care to play anything other than Nintendo exclusive games on it, is because the multiplatform games on the other systems will have better online communities and features like voice-chat / party-chat standard. Plus after trying the PS4, man the Wii U OS is really slow at starting/stopping/switching between applications. It's only going to look worse and worse compared to the core gaming consoles.

The Wii U and Nintendo as a whole now... they have failed at the "U" proposition... they are strickly for the casuals, but other than the AAA casual friendly games, they dont really offer much to me.

I do love that Miiverse

No, at least I don't. I just don't want a WiiU for Mario and Pikmin only when I have over a dozen Wii games to beat.

I will get a WiiU probably by next years Black Friday/Boxing day. I want to be on the band wagon this time for Smash Bros and Mario Kart, play them while the hype is still there. However I'm holding off for now, waiting for X the most, then I have no excuse not to upgrade.

As for other owners, I can understand why people aren't upgrading. Most of Gamecubes games were a flop, and the ones that were great (like Metroid Prime) didn't sell well on Wii. Now WiiU is making new iterations of recently successful titles, like Mario, Mario Kart, Wii Fit, and Smash Bros. I don't think the casual audience needs a new iteration of the same games so soon yet, especially since they were all so good on WiiU.

Plus like many say WiiU doesn't have that Killer Ap yet. Sure, Super Mario 3D Worlds is amazing, but it's not new, it's still another Mario Platformer, and it actually got a lower score then the 2 Galaxy games. WiiU has no Wii Sports like the Wii had before it.

----

If Nintendo wants to make the WiiU sell, they need to reintroduce more IP's like Pikmin. They need to make a new Wii Sports game (something that can be released at retailers) a new Metroid Prime game, a new console Animal Crossing, a new Starfox game, maybe even a new Earthbound. A new IP wouldn't hurt either.

Do tell, how did third parties "try" to work with Nintendo? By skipping their systems when it comes to multiplats? By delivering cheap, lazy ports? By providing mostly shovelware?

It seems like the Xbox One and PS4 will outsell the Wii U in a matter of months despite having no 'great' games yet. People who buy the twin systems buy in hopes of great games coming in the next year or so. Do Nintendo fans have a lack of faith that 'great' games are coming to the Wii U? Is it the fact that Nintendo might pull of yet another cartoon Zelda? I don't get it. it seems like Nintendo has more games out already geared toward their audience then Microsoft and Sony does yet they will fall far behind. They even are 100 dollars cheaper than PS4! What do you think??

Its third parties and exclusives. Don't you guys get it. He who has the least third parties naturally loses.

Wii says otherwise

the daily wii u is doomed thread.

and by the way: "It seems like the Xbox One and PS4 will outsell the Wii U in a matter of months" it's not entirely wrong. if it happens, 120 is still a number of months.

You added an extra 0 on there by accident.

Although I still think that's optmistic!!!

Careful. He's going to find a way to delete your posts in this thread if you keep it up.
