Forums - Nintendo - The Next Zelda NEEDS To Have Realistic Visuals

I think is very possible since not just nintendo has to target more mature audience but also because nintendo has been using cartoon style for quite a long time so a chnage is really needed

See, this is a view shared by many, many gamers.

If Nintendo would just get that through their thick skulls, they'd see they have a potential goldmine on theiir hands in terms of winning back the "core" gamer.

People who say Skyward sword looks cartoon must be village people or something.

Have you never seen art and are you so uneducated that painting design means cartoony.

Are you a cavemen where anything even having color different from skyrim is kiddy?

What is wrong with you guys?

It's not about what I think, its about what  the dudebro "hardcore" gamer Nintendo needs to attract to expand their audience thinks.

I can understand that but there people here who actually think it is kiddy. Painting style is highest form of respected art in the world.

P.S the redneck part was not needed as there are let's of rednecks I know who like nintendo and northern people who don't. Just use dudebro.

For me the explanation why it needs is simple. Every gen Nintendo hypes zelda by making a realistic demo. Then they proceed to let the fans down and deliver something completely different.
They have to realise they cant do that. If you promise, you need to deliver.

While I do love Zelda and will consume it in almost any form it comes in, but at this stage it needs to be along the lines of that trailer they showed us before at E3. If they managed to duplicate those visuals and market the game correctly, the Wii U would make a "Yu Gi Oh" come back (of sorts). I'm not suggesting it will attain pole position, but I think it would help propel the system and at least keep it afloat. I've been talking to a lot of gamers, and most do not seem interested in the Wii U, but Smash and Zelda are the games that would get them to consider purchasing it. If Zelda U were to be akin to Zelda WW, then I am sure many would not be interested (at least those I spoke to).

Playstation = The Beast from the East

Sony + Nintendo = WIN! PS3 + PSV + PS4 + Wii U + 3DS

It's this simple: a cartoon Zelda U would only appeal to their established audience.

A darker semi-realistic Zelda U would capture thousands of gamers who would otherwise never touch Wii U.

Will one game really attract that much people? Zelda isn't Halo, Mario, GTA, or Gran Turismo. It's not even as big as Final Fantasy VII or X was for the PS1 or PS2.

If Nintendo makes this darker Zelda game, they need to have other darker style games. The only franchise they can use are the even more niche series like Metroid, Star Fox, and F-Zero.

We don't even know if the traditional Zelda fans will be turned off by this darker game. It's kind like the Wii U's philosophy all over again but for a Zelda game. Relying on your past audience to show up and pay when appealing to another crowd who isn't big and doesn't want the game's system in the first place.  It will try to appeal to everyone but end up unwanted by everyone. And if you're using video game forumers to gauge interests, then you'e selected a really bad sample. Video game forumers don't traditionally buy recent Nintendo systems in the first place.

They have other darker games; Bayonetta 2 and Monolith Soft's X. They need one with Zelda's brand power, which while not Mario or GTA by any means, is still significant.

Traditional Zelda fans were not turned off by Twilight Princess's darker approach. In fact, it was much more successful than the cartoonier Wind Waker and Skyward Sword. Dark Zelda sells better than toon Zelda.
