The last 12 months of wii u games represent what the wii u is capable of plus a little bit on top. I honestly can't see the wii u running a game to the same level as the E3 demo. Also Zelda windwaker was by far the most successful Zelda game by ratio of owners who bought the game. You have to factor in the small userbase of Gamecube. Zelda windwaker still seems visually fresh and beautiful and I personally would be happy with a new Zelda game based on a similar game engine and visual style. I didn't like the art style of Twilight Princess. It looked ghastly and looked technically dated even when it was first released. Nintendo know they have to mask the weak hardware. Many people are very impressed with both Mario 3D and what we have seen of the new Mariokart game. Both are visually very beautiful but are not actually technically impressive. This would surely be the best way to approach a new Zelda, something beautiful that is still within the capabilities of the wii u. We know the PS4 and Xbox one will get games that fully exploit their far superior hardware. Nintendo have the same problem as wii, creating fantastic games with technically weak hardware. This time its even harder as the wii u isn't selling itself on novelty value alone it needs games to push sales. |
The E3 2011 demo did not suffer at all from "weak hardware", it looks incredible. That's the look they should go for if they had half a brain between them.
