Too. Long. Didn't. Read.

tl;dr

It's good for slower paced 30fps games where you won't notice the limitations and latency, crappy for 60fps games requiring quick reactions. Worse than Wii U and Shield.

I was surprised to see Gaikai from its PC days was faster.

I am looking forward to Gaikai real user tests at home next year. It will most likely be good and bad for the same reasons and games like remote play (well, most probably even worse...).

The lag is noticeable in that video.

I could tell this was an ethomaz thread just by reading the title. You always post...wait. You're not ethomaz? What gives?

As expected, Wii U outperforms the PS4 + Vita combo because the former was built from the ground up for this function, while the latter was not.

It's a more technically challenging operation than it seems.

But... but... all that extra power?

Thanks op, I've been patiently awaiting a verdict for a really long time. I'm really happy it does remote play to any degree and is fully functional. I never once expected it to be as good as Nintendo Wii U GamePad. It's just exciting to see Remote Play doing its job after all these years!

But PS4+Vita was supposed to be better because the Vita has its own processing capabilities, whereas the GamePad has none. You mean to tell me the Wii U clearly excels at performing a function that the combined raw power of the PS4 and Vita can't emulate?

Yes.

Because it's not just a question of raw computing grunt, its a question of how well the hardware is designed for performing this specific task. You can't just throw more gigaflops at the problem, it's more complicated than that.

Think of it as two guys; guy A is much stronger than guy B, but guy B has better coordination, so he's better at sports.

Gah, even in real life I'm awful at detecting sarcasm. XD
