How come people can't notice this difference? It's absurdly better than 720p.

Because those people who can't notice will have very poor quality TV's thus the difference will be harder to see.

You guys are blown away by AC4? I think it looks average at best. Doesn't look nearly as good as Tomb Raider on PC which is just a port. I can't wait till these last gen ports go away.

it certainly is NOT

lol, no

there have been hardly any non "Full HD" TVs at stores around here for the last 3 or so years, those 90% only exist in your head

Most people dont give a crap. How is it that you cant understand that, hm?

Wow, I never even said they did.

Just this, HDTVs sold hundreds of millions of units in the last years and the by far most of them had "Full HD" displays, because "HD rdy" ones are hardly even in production anymore. Just by that it's plainly obvious that far more than 10% of HDTVs out there are native 1080p, I'd wager it's even the majority.

Now it is. But the adoptainrate was at its highest point in the period between 2008-2010 when people got rid of their CRT's. People bought the cheapest alternative en mass during that period in time. This was the era people went nuts over flatscreen tv's cause it was fashionable first and foremost. Anecdotally, you can just look around you and ask your own folks when they bought their flatscreen and what they payed for it (If you say HDTV they'll just look funny at you, so dont do that).

I don't know anyone that has a 720p TV.  All are 1080p.  Just because your experience is different, doesn't mean that it's the norm.  Where are you getting your information that the adoption rate was highest in 2008-2010?  I know, out of your...   There is no chance that 90% of TVs are less than 1080p.  It's at best on the order of 25%.

You make a claim, it's on you to prove it.  If I'd have known you weren't that bright, I wouldn't have bothered responding.

Okey.. Thank you for your time. Have fun riding that short bus.

I don't see a big difference in this comparison video though: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zsQJVxaFfQw

And the graphics look 'ok' certainly not mind-blowing.

Think for yourself, question authority

How come people can't notice this difference? It's absurdly better than 720p.

Bacause 90% of those people who own a HDTV's bought HDReady. HDReady TV's are capped at 720p. Many places in the world TrueHD is regarded as a luxury commodity, and since cable providers only offers 720p broadcasting they end up not caring too much about upgrading to TrueHD.

I don't know a single person who has an HDReady TV.

"Many places in the world TrueHD is regarded as a luxury commodity"

That's just BS. Here in Africa there aren't even any HDReady TVs for sale anymore. Perhaps you should realise that it's not 2009 anymore.

A lot of people don't game on big enough TVs to tell the difference. Poor bastards.

Yea, I mean, even PROFESSIONAL REVIEWERS were saying for some games that "1080p vs 720p" on PS4 x Xbone comparisons that it didn't matter. But after playing it at 1080p, I say it does matter and matters in a major way.

Any reviewer that says otherwise is flat out lying.

Or just really shit at their jobs.
