Forums - Sales - Xbox One outsells PS4 at Target despite being $100 more?

J_Allard said:
This is just a survey so it's kind of just irrelevant anecdotal evidence like any Target thread Max makes about PS4's selling much more at his local store lol. Fucking iPads though.

And I see people clutching to this logic that PS4 sales could have been higher but Sony "forced" retailers to hold stock until Black Friday... that's a retailer decision, and Walmart made the same one. They held back both for Black Friday.

good thing you can claim that all you want. fact remains, I was right. It must pain you to see that

I think the PS4 will do well initially in the US but it's legs will be shorter than the X1. The X1 will have surpassed the PS4 in the US this time next year if not earlier.

My opinion exactly. I don't see how the combined might of Titanfall, Halo 5, and Quantum Break aren't going to sell enough Xbox One's to retake the number 1 spot in the US by the end of next year.

I doubt it.  Titanfall and Quantum Break will not be system sellers.  There is no indication Halo 5 will even be ready in 2014.

What makes you think that? Titanfall on Xbox One has 104k preorders in the US already with 16 weeks to go, and it's been gaining at a steady 10k+ the last few weeks. If it maintains a steady 10k every week until release, that would put it at 260k preorders, but everyone knows that preorders ramp up the last few weeks before release, so it could easily hit 400k preorders in the US, which would likely lead to around 500k in sales week one. Globally that should probably put week one around 700-800k, leading to lifetime sales around 4 million units, well within system seller territory.

As for Quantum Break, it's outcome is less certain, but gameplay is about to be shown at VGX on December 7th, and I won't be suprised at all if hype goes through the roof after it's shown, based on how good the gameplay looked in the small teaser that we got at the Xbox One launch party. It may not be as big a system seller as Ttianfall and Halo 5 are, but I still expect good things.

Halo 5 could get delayed until 2015, but so far they've given us a release window of 2014, which is why I included it. We all know that a new Halo will sell at least 6-7 million units, which makes it a system seller in my book.

Infamous has the same number of pre-orders, and titan fall is on 360 and pc.....Not going to be much of a system seller with destiny lurking.

Titanfall will speed up at a faster rate than Infamous, mark my words. If Second Son maintained it's current pace, it could potentially outsell both previous Infamous games combined, which is highly unlikely. No, I think Infamous: Second Son only saw a preorder boost the last few weeks because the PS4's launch lineup was weak, people who had extra money when they went in to buy their PS4 decided put it on the first post launch exclusive, which is Second Son, instead of buying one of the PS4's lackluster launch titles.

Titanfall has too much hype behind it after winning a ton of awards at both E3 and Gamescom. The 360 version is not going to do super well because people know that it'll be sub-par graphically, Titanfall is already not that impressive graphically, people will buy it on Xbox One or PC to get the best graphics possible. The Xbox One version will lead simply because there are more first person shooter fans that prefer controller over mouse/keyboard.

This post is one massive assumption with notihng to back it up.. .... Ps4 launch lineup is no weaker then x1..or any console launch.. period. Titanfall will sell more on 360 then x1 by a mile, 80 = million versus a few million install base.

Sorry but the PS4 launch lineup is weaker than the X1. And if Titanfall isn't a X1 system seller than neither is Infamous. Not to mention... What else is left for the PS4 in 2014? DC won't do it.

Are you serious? X1 launch lineup has a lower metacritic rating then ps4.... People don;t buy consoles at launch for launch ttiles not do game sstop at launch. Sony's first party speaks for itself.

Whats left for PS4 in 2014 are you serious?

Infamous

The order

Uncharted

Drive club

Deep Down

FF14 a Realm Reborn

Shadow of the beats

Daylight

Rime

to name a few.

We still dont know what GG new IP ss or Sony santa monic or media molecule...... Sony has a lot more games in development then microsoft. Also level 5 is apparently working on Ni no kuni.

PLaystation has been around since 1995...games won;t be an issue.

Then there is the better multiplats.

GT7 is not coming in 2014.

Its not confirmed yet but  "In September, Yamauchi said Gran Turismo 7 for PS4 would be ready in about a "year or two" and will feature a significant community component, though this was not specified. If Gran Turismo 7 is released in 2014, it will arrive alongside DriveClub, another first-party racing game."

They have plans to release in 2014.

There were more Xbox One's available during Black Friday. The system wasn't sold out for two weeks aside for small Black Friday shipments.

Maybe they didn't have any in stock like everyone else?

Because outside of this site and a few other on-line communities many people actually want an Xbox. At least in most English speaking areas.

Black Friday is a USA shopping day. And I would best the average consumer there doesn't know about the new Xbox, but they would choose an Xbox anyway. It's far more popular and chosen by more communities than the PlayStation.

PlayStation USA has their fans, but I think most of them already got them.

So you expect ps4 sales to drop to Wii u levels then since most PS fans got the ps4.....

Let us all forget the 2.3 million ps4s back ordered at GameStop.... And the fact the ps4 outsold the Xbox in the u.s, and the fact you can't get a ps4 anywhere right now, can't wait till a couple of months pass, I'm tired of talking to Xbox fans who throw away the power difference and tout its the same for 100 bucks more crap in person and in the forums

I'm suprized someone is still bringing up the extremly minor GPU difference now.  Espically when the problems have shown up in use, which isn't the Xbox.  Paper is nice, but real world use is where I game.

To refresh your memory, when the PS4 specs were out with a 1.8 Tflops GPU and some were still hoping for the Sweeney request 2.5 Tflops I stated it would be largely insignifianct.  And now the differences are even less signifiant than that.  If you want to make a big deal about it still, and ignoring the extra processors the Xbox One has and speculated superior software engineer, I guess you can.  But it reminds me of people complaining as the Wii outsold the HD twins. (Only to be later surpassed by the Xbox 360 in the UK and USA.)

As I said previously, I expected the PlayStation to have a great launch - event the PS3 sold better out the gate than the Xbox 360 in the USA.   It has many nestalgic followers and they are hungry for a new system.   I'm sure it will be a fine system that makes many people happy.

Kind of amazing isn't it how well the Xbox One is selling even at $100 more?  To be fair though, it does have more features than the PS4 with Skype, vioce regontion, and no annoying controller light reflecting off your TV.  Plus, rumble triggers are like having a super tasty donut, then having the most amazing glaze poured on top.

Really not sure I see any point of Consol over PC's since Kinect, Wii and other alternative ways to play have been abandoned.

Top 50 'most fun' game list coming soon!

Tell me a funny joke!

The xboxone is selling in 13 countries worldwide last week and the ps4 is available in the US and Canada only for last week. Sales for Europe and some other countries went on sale yesterday. Next week sales will show the difference.
